The Importance of Border Control
The United States has spent a lot of the taxpayer's money on border control. Illegal immigration is one of the reasons why border control is crucial. Illegal immigration increases security risks in the country as some of these migrants can be terrorists or enemies of the state. Border control is therefore useful in controlling the movement of illegal immigrants or goods. For efficient border control, there is need to understand the reasons behind illegal immigration. This article develops a hypothesis on the reasons behind illegal immigration.
Reasons Behind Illegal Immigration
Unemployment, out-migrated relatives, and different moral perspectives are some of the reasons behind illegal immigration in the United States. Therefore, Unemployment + Out-migrated relatives + Moral Perspectives= Illegal Immigration. According to Planas (2014), the presence of a border between the United States and Mexico is one of the reasons as to why illegal immigration exists. When there are reduced job opportunities in Mexico, some of the Mexicans find the jobs next-door to be attractive and find ways to immigrate illegally (Silsby, 2013). Also, some of the immigrants have families that moved to the United States and therefore, seeing their lives improve forces them to find their own means of migrating too. These immigrants believe that they have a right to be in the United States and therefore, do not need the U.S government's permission (Silsby, 2013). This highlights some of the reasons behind the illegal immigration.
