In 2008, the couple lost their case after denying the homo-sexual their rights to book one room together at their hotel. In fact, the owners of the hotel even ended up advertising that the double bedrooms were only available to heterosexual married couples. The purpose of the article is to establish equality in same-sex marriage (Bowcott, 2013 n.d).
Comparing Heterosexual and Homosexual Unions
Throughout time, marriage has always been instituted in unions as opposite sex. For instance, in 2006 according to research, more than fifty percent of Americans practiced lesbian and pro-gay marriages (Dinno & Whitney, 2013 p.47). When heterosexual and homosexual unions are compared, then they are seen to be equal in all aspects because both are considered loyal because the partners are devoted, committed, and active in their communities (Buxton, 2014 p.27).
Tolerance and Equality in Britain
Since the case of Mr. and Mrs. Bull took place in Britain, the country is known for its tolerance and freedom after the ruling made by the European judges could not be overruled. Based on the equality act that was enacted in 2010, in Britain, lesbians and gay men have the same right without being discriminated against other people (Bowcott, 2013 n.d). Looking at how the law stands, in America, about six states participate in allowing the marriage of gay couples (Ball, 2014 p.113). The same nation legally accepted same-sex marriage in 2004 on May fourteenth. Given that freedom is important and that anyone should have it, equality comes first before it because it gives people the rights to their status (Ball, 2014 p.117). A good example is seen in heterosexual marriages.
