The Impact of Population and Urban Development Projects on Immigrants and Future of New York City

Community Board 3 Manhattan

Community Board 3 Manhattan has dominated various regions in the New York City. It is believed that the community is dominated by diversification of languages, income, religion, and culture. This comes about as results of the coming of many immigrants into the city. According to the estimate, it is believed that Community Board 3 is among the largest board district in New York City and also is term as the most densely populated region with approximately over 165, 097 people. The residents in the region are proud of the upcoming historic culture and diversified neighborhood. Community Board 3 which are believed to be the neighborhood of Jackson Heights, Corona, and East Elmhurst have encountered various changes in the New York city due to that there was a diverse range of gentrification. According to my opinion, I think that population and urban development projects are much good for the immigrants and for the future of New York City. Below are cases which support that population and urban development projects will be good for immigrants and for the future of New York City (Parker, " Simon Frank, 58).

The creation of Jackson Heights

A Jackson height is believed to be unplanned diversity in that it remains rural area like other regions such as Queens County until the late 19th centuries. Queens come up with a network in the townships which was surrounded by industrial areas and presence of the open land in the region. Queens becomes homelands to most of the immigrant after the expansion of transport infrastructure. As a result of globalization among various communities, Jackson Heights was made by the group of estate speculators who in the early 19th century started buying of open land at Elmhurst. This has led to the development of the real estates in the community where they purchased undeveloped land and they sold or leases to different developers.

Development of housing

Thus the development of housing in the region has led to good settlement of immigrant and also it will assist the people of the New York City in future since the present of good housing posed a better living standard in the region. In addition, Jackson Heights apartments which were established gave an opportunity to the residents who were renting apartments to buy them at cheap prices. In the early 1920s Jackson Heights grew at higher speed and as a result, many apartments and private home built which current can sustain more than 44, 500 people as compared to earlier where it would have sustained less than 3700 people. Moreover, the trip to Manhattan was reduced by taking a short duration of time since there was the introduction of the train in the region. Due to increase in the housing, it is good to immigrant since they will settle well in the region and they will start expanding the economy of the region and as a result, the future of the New York City will be far much in term of growth (Desmond and Matthew, 163).

Demographic change

Increasing in population has posed a good outlook for immigrants and has improved the future of people of New York City in that population is changing simultaneously. For instance 2001 census 24% of the population consisting of 3700 residents were requiring income support and by 2004 the population reduced to 22% consisting of 3400 residents , this has evidently show that there is an increase in the income among various people in the region and as a results immigrant and people of the New York City will receive goods service including good medical care, a good infrastructure will be enhanced, cultural diversity will increase , good education system will be enhanced and lastly each household income will increase and as a results there will be an increase in the living standard of the immigrant and the people of the New York City.

Development of Jackson Heights

Development of the Jackson Heights in the Queens New York city has led to the development of the suburban community for various groups including the white people, nonimmigrant Protestants and local people. This group has converged into the midtown of Manhattan and development of good housing and public transport has tended to prevent the ethnic diversity and as a result, it has led to the creation of a middle-class immigrant neighborhoods in the New York City. As a result due to the case of globalization various group of people has come together and as a result, there is good interrelation which has led to increase in population and the urban development projects is increasing simultaneously leading to good future of New York City and also immigrant (Gottdiener " Ryan, 37).

In conclusion

In conclusion, it is well stated that the based on Community Board 3, then the immigrant neighborhood of Jackson Heights, Corona, and East Elmhurst has led to important positive changes which have made the future of immigrants and that of New York City be well established.
