The Impact of AI on Employment
The greatest fear of human beings about Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the thought that it is coming in to replace them and make them irrelevant in the employment sector. However, a keen study of the subject reveals that it is indeed coming in to increase employment and improve the workplace. One of the improvements foreseen by the introduction of AI at work is enhanced digital commerce. AI allows marketers to create unique and personalised advertisements and messages to each of their customers. For example, the technology will be able to know what appeals more to an individual and tailor make the advertisement to suit that. The feature is similar to micro-targeting that happens on Facebook mostly, which has been seen to work a lot in the series, “The Good Fight.”
The Potential of Automated Transportation
Automated transportation is one area that can be explored because it will improve our day to day activities (“The future of Artificial Intelligence,” 2016). With the implementation of such a technology, the presence of annoying drivers and drivers who are unprofessional will be lost. Having automated cars also means no more getting lost because of lack of directions. As much as it may take a while before acceptance by the public, once it gains popularity, it will improve the transport sector.
Ethical Challenges in AI
Technology and machines fail every now and then; AI is not an exception. If the dystopian nightmare occurs, then the world would be at risk because the only way to stop extremely intelligent robots from taking over is by shutting down the global grid which is a significant risk.
The Ethical Dilemma
One of the most significant challenges facing AI is ethics (“BBC - Future - Why the biggest challenge facing AI is an ethical one,” n.d.). It is ethical to do research aimed at improving AI because the world order is shifting and technology is taking over. However, it is essential to heavily invest in the finding of a balance or solution to the huge ethical issues surrounding the subject. Will it replace human beings? Will it be misused? What about wrong social priorities? And the greatest of all is the nightmare scenario.
