The Cornaro Chapel

The study of The Cornaro Chapel is a very important study in the field of Arts. The Cornaro Chapel has a lot of significances on the modern day churches. The location of the church is also very significant. This is because anything that is located inside a church is considered sacred. The Cornaro Chapel is located on the left transept of S. Maria Della Vitoria church in Rome (Call, 34). Outside the architectural part, the Cornaro Chapel is considered as the greatest commission of the Cornaro family.  It was commissioned by Cardinal Federigo Cornaro in the year 1647. At first, the chapel was a funerary chapel that was meant for the Venetian family. This chapel was later completed by the Bernini. The study of this chapel is very important in the field of arts. It is very important for every art student to fully understand the combination of architecture, sculpture and painting because the three are the main pillars in the history of arts. Hence, the research about the Coronary Chapel will be so helpful in making the students understand those three pillars; paintings, sculpture combination and architecture (Neil, 469). The chapel has been transformed depiction of heaven. It includes both dramatic work and the onlookers.  It was very significant for Cornaro to use the church for his burial chapel. The episodes that were described by Teresa of Avila derived the two sculptural figures of the angel and the nun with spears.  The study will cover the religious experiences of Teresa of Avila and her encounter with the angels. The natural light which illuminates the sculpture is allowed in the church through a window. That was the foundation of the idea of witnessing in the current world.
