Baeckeroot elucidates that the negative stereotypes that continue surround tattoos have a negative impact on employment of a person.
The article points out that, while the increase in the prevalence of tattoos has made some employers to open to diversity in the workplace, still, many view it to be an immoral aspect and base on it when selecting their workforce. Baeckeroot writes that "tattoos are inhibiting attaining jobs, and that tattoos in certain areas on the body may be the deciding factor for employers." For this reason, Baeckeroot suggests that a shift in societal perceptions concerning tattoos will be a fundamental factor in eliminating the negative prejudices and stereotypes that people especially employers have. The author remarks that "it is certain that the value of the individual and the contributions they make should not be inhibited by the fact that they have tattoos." Having a tattoo, as Baeckeroot explains, does not decrease the potential contributions the worker puts to the company. Therefore, employers should not base on tattoos while evaluating an individual who is fit for employment as they are likely to leave out a person with more exceptional skills and ability. Indeed, Baeckeroot's article is useful in educating people who have remained to be rigid in tolerating tattoos in the workplace and think that tattoos are unethical. Evidently, the article is essential in informing the employers and other workers that embracing the workforce, whether tattooed or not, could lead to a relaxed atmosphere and thus improved on the employee productivity level which in turn benefits the organization.Work Cited
