Ready-to-Wear and Figure in Pink and Yellow Comparison

Ready-to-Wear is a painting designed by Stuart Davis meanwhile Figure in Pink and Yellow by Manierre Dawson, both are American artists. Additionaly, the two paintings are exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago. Both Ready-to-Wear and Figure in Pink and Yellow are informed by Cubism movement. As such, Stuart and Manierre adopted a two-dimensional flat surface and denied linear perspective but emphasized on light and shadow. Once again, both the pieces showcase a new frontier in the painting of scrapper objects. Futhermore, the two paintings exhibit a new series of images assembled from the 2D pieces and can be replicated from different angles (Saleh & Elgammal 15). In short, both paintings disregarded the theory of single fixed notion while focusing on a wide range of perspectives. To construct a subjective perception of the environment both images are developed from reconstructed fragments. This represents the intellectual idea of the substance and how they relate to each other, a common aspect identified with Cubism. Both images are similar in the way the artists use oil. For instance, in the Ready-to-Wear, Stuart uses oil on canvas while in the Figure in Pink and Yellow, Manierre uses oil on board. Additionally, Ready-to-Wear is indebted to the American ready-to-wear dresses. The broad flat surfaces of red, black, white and blue depict leftover pieces of clothing. The angular shape in the upper corner of the Ready-to-Wear represents a pair of scissors. The bright palette and vibrate mixture of colors, the piece acknowledges the vitality of ready-to-wear clothing sector and the American people. On the other hand, the Figure in Pink and Yellow is Manierre was inspired by the abstract art. There is no need for 3D space, as such; he fragmented the shape of the figure that portrayed lighter colors such as yellow, lavender and peach. While Ready to Wear highlights proximity, Figure in Pink and Yellow depicts variety. In particular, the Ready-to-Wear, the artist placed parts together and considered to be related. The proximity aspect related to Ready-to-Wear assists the viewers to comprehend what they are observing.
