Racial oppression is a term based on race theory, which is a movement that was initiated by scholars who had an aim of transforming traditional interactions regarding power and race. A precise definition of these terms is based on prejudice. It is an attitude created by individuals lacking some crucial information hence basing their actions on stereotypes. When directed to certain oppressed individuals, the result is a negative or positive prejudice. An individual lacks individuality when facing some level of prejudice.
Oppression, on the other hand, explains how power is used to ground a group of individuals in a given society. Benefits go to the more powerful individuals or group in a given society. (Rita & Bailey, 2007). The two made out four assumptions in the above term. The above group, i.e., oppressors have the power to dictate others and themselves.
Scenario 2: Jim
The main Point in situation two is racism. Jim, a white student, feels offended when called a racist. Jim and his girlfriend noticed the second group in the park to dark hours without being able to determine the occupants of the car. Maybe the car occupants had no interest in Jim and his girlfriend, but overall, it created a suspension for them. The frame of the question directed to the black who was in the car made them fill offended and took it to be a racism act. They reported to responsible authority’s shows their genuine presence in the park at that hour.
Advice to the student
Jim should not fell offended because he understands the reason why he asked them that question of them being present in the park at that time. It was out of his fear of the unknown group in the park and the termination of the speculated plans with his girlfriend. It sounded rude, and he should apologize for the same. It will not cost him anything.
The best course of Action
The two groups should come to the table and talk to a moderate state. Both should agree to understand each other’s view and try to ignore the racism perception of the scenario.
Conclusion
Racism can cause suffering and crushes. For this reason, it should be discouraged at all costs and some party fill oppressed, a report to respective authorities is an advisable step to undertake. The second group that is the oppressed ones creates a negative attitude and message but send up being assimilated to the ways of the dictating group. Discrimination, genocide and harassment results despite both groups must play their role as normal in a given society (Rita, 2007)
