Discussion Board Prompt: In the readings, students will learn about the causes of obesity and know how to differentiate between obesity and being overweight. It is expected that everyone will be aware of BMI calculation where the square of their height divides a person's weight, and the result is expressed in kilograms per square meter. The definitions given will be those stated by the World Health Organization. Some of the questions that will require full knowledge are; is obesity preventable? And if so how? Why is there a higher risk of obesity in women than in men? What are the primary treatments for the condition? What is the role of sedentary lifestyle in causing obesity? Is diabetes genetic? Can environmental factors cause the condition? The module will ensure that students get the right education regarding obesity and the preventive measures that should be put in place to ensure that people consume healthy food and live the right kind of lifestyles.
