Low-income families are families that earn less than twice of the federal poverty line in the country. The country is made up of such families. The families undergo difficulty as they try to blend in with the harsh economic times of the period. They undergo basic difficulty such as lack of nutritious food, perfect housing and access to quality education. Majority of the people that comes from low-income families save to work on double jobs in order to meet up with the daily needs. It creates a necessity for them to come up with economic ways of ensuring that they survive economic difficulties. Particular instances that affected the low-income families the worst was during the economic recession that took place during the year 2009. The paper discusses their implications of the recession to the low-income families in terms of food accessibility.

The recession that took place in 2009 was caused but a bubble in the business and internet stocks that resulted into basic prices falling. It affected the low-income families in a negative way. This is based on the fact that the investment banks took opportunity of the situation and raised mortgage fees to a certain level that the country found it impossible to sustain itself. Majority of people from low income families and middle class lost their jobs. The issue affected them in a negative way that they found difficulty in sustaining themselves. It is an apparent issue that affected the manner in which they related with each other together with the complications that comes with unemployment. The set up of the country created difficulty for most families because they failed to understand how the system works together with how they would sustain themselves.
Recession causes a change in lifestyles of the affected families in a negative way. in this particular case, the recession affected the access to accommodation as most of the families lost their houses.
