Although globalization has had positive impacts on the development of various countries, it is associated with adverse effects on the climate through an increase in the greenhouse gas emissions. Globalization has gradually increased across the world as interconnections and relationships are created between various countries to keep up with the progression in technology (Maneschi,2018). The increase has contributed to growth in population as industrialization and production are on the rise to cope with the demand. In this way, globalization could have a diverse effect on climate change as there are different ways through which it directly or indirectly impacts on the society. Consequently, research indicates an interconnection between globalization and the environment that creates both positive and negative impacts (Roberts " Parks, 2008). However, despite the fact that globalization has had positive effects on the environment, there has also been an adverse change in the climate associated with industrialization through emission of greenhouse gases that lead to global warming. It is through these changes that I support the proposition that globalization influences with climate changes.
First issue: Globalization and demographic changes
A. Population growth is widely related to global demographic shifts.
i. Projection of growth in different countries including the United States will be more than 20% by 2050.
ii. Globalization affects the increase in some people living in a particular region.
iii. The positive impacts of globalization increasing production and causing economic benefits leads to the rise in population.
iv. It also has a positive impact as it reduces the rate of unemployment through the integration of foreign companies in the different countries.
v. It provides an opportunity for the consumers to gain a broader scope of products from various countries that they could choose from competitive price through international trade and free markets.
B. However, scarcity of the available resources is still a significant problem, and it may not support the increase in the population.
i. Different region populations will receive excessive environmental pressures that will cause ecological changes.
ii. Growth in the population is associated with competition for the scarce resources that will lead to exhaustion and depletion.
iii. In that way, globalization is associated with a direct impact on the environment that causes climate change through disruption of the natural regional variations and the atmosphere.
iv. The interconnection between different countries through transportation and trade increases competition that leads to industrialization and emission of the vast amounts of the poisonous gases.
Second issue: Impact on the economic activities and environment
A. Environment plays a significant part in globalization through the communication, trade and transportation network
i. Environmental atmospheric changes leading to changes in the climate
ii. Environmental changes will lead to an adverse effect on the sociocultural conditions such as the psychological needs of people.
iii. Different aspects of globalization influence the health of the population.
iv. Industrialization influences the development of genetically modified foods
v. It is through the exploitation of the environment in industrialization that leads to adverse effects of climate changes.
Extensive use of chemicals and fertilizers
B. There has been an increase in the sources of pollutants across the globe.
i. Increased competition from the industries leads to the production of more products that enhance the release of unwanted gases to the atmosphere.
ii. The transportation sector has also contributed a considerable amount of the gases into the atmosphere.
Third Issue: Ecological changes due to human activities
A. There has been the development of new pollutants through industrialization.
i. Different sources of greenhouse emissions from power generation to the transport system are identified in the global world.
Most human activities are known to contribute to carbon production into the atmosphere leading to cumulative emissions.
The greenhouse gases mainly are implicated in the global changes of climate.
ii. In addition to the emission of greenhouse gases, there are other global environmental changes caused by humans.
Disruption of the ozone layer concentration is realized with the increase in accumulation of the gases.
iii. Globalization has also increased the saturation of the oceans and deforestation through an increase in the human population.
Ocean acidification and land degradation
iv. Climate change is also experienced through variation in the rainfall patterns
Conclusion: The primary component of globalization that leads to climate change is the increase in the emission of the greenhouse gases. Consequently, the changes in climate with different regions are related to the living various populations as people identify ways to survive in the adverse environments. Hence the way globalization affects the climate is very critical for the people who gets affected in return from the change in living conditions. In this way, globalization is important for the advancement of better living condition though may cause dire problems to the populations if not properly managed. It is necessary that precautionally measures be integrated through the industrialization process for the various countries across the globe to ensure that the environment is protected and the regional climatic changes reduced.
