Human Growth and Development

Understanding how each group of the life cycle is related to and associated with human growth and development is the goal of the assignment. There are eight different age groups in total, and each has a different developmental stage and associated tasks. Infants make up the first age group, and the corresponding developmental stage is trust vs. mistrust. The task of development for the aforementioned age range is to foster attachment and bonding.
The remaining age group is early childhood, and at this stage of development, autonomy is pitted against shame and insecurity. The development task for this group of kids is to learn how to take care of themselves and use the restroom. The next age group is of schooling that includes initiative vs. guilty and the related development tasks are the academic success, good mental health, friendship, making friends as well as social competence.

The adulthood is also one of the groups that have middle and late adulthood stages of growth and development (Rayner, 2005). The steps of progress include intimacy vs. isolation, integrity vs. despair as well as generativity vs. stagnation. The development tasks include relationship management, nurturing children and to providing wisdom to all of the said groups of people.

With these said, the drive behind this task is to understand and grasp fully the human growth and progress of development that is linked to each life cycle group. In this case, there is a total of eight age groups, and each of the said bunch has its phase of improvement and connected tasks and efforts. This paper discusses the growth and development linked with each of the existing life cycle group of individuals.

Part B

This section explains how the identity of self is created in continued adolescence, middle childhood and early stage of childhood. Robust and detailed examples of how growth and development take place. The self-identity during middle childhood is created through increased social competency. The individual master skills during middle childhood as that are also considered as school age and perform a task with similar age group peers. The formal schooling process that is done since person attends early adulthood continues to present an opportunity to the individual so that there is self-identity process gets evolved over a period of time (Rayner, 2005).

The growth process occurs from middle childhood till early adulthood through developing competency while going through school adjustments, able to drive peer relationships and person learns to play by rules. The academic achievements also help an individual to establish self-identity. The schooling and right socialistic competency help an individual to adopt a process of self-identity gradually.

The interpersonal relationships get progressively developed from childhood to adulthood through a comprehensive process. The childhood relationship is improved and strengthened through having a mother-child relationship where an individual child came across intimate behavior from the mother in the form of love, concern, and affection. The family member’s attachment towards child drives the necessary behavioral pattern and helps develop the interpersonal relationships with close ones.

The school provides an opportunity to have first peer interaction and share communication that continuously develops moving up in adulthood. The interpersonal relationships during schooling lay the foundation to work with larger groups. The friendship gets formed and as an adolescent undergoes physical and emotional changes that help develop the necessary interpersonal relationship during adulthood. The interpersonal relationship from childhood to adulthood gradually gets developed and gets intense as with adulthood. The interpersonal relationship works towards obtaining and creating a long-term relationship in adulthood while during childhood it remains only till playground or at school.

The intimacy during middle child stage has a different approach and meaning to the level of affection during adolescent and the young adult stage. The middle childhood intimacy is more towards parents, family members, and friends. The level of closeness during middle childhood is encouraged through affection, respect, and attributes like friendship. The middle childhood seeks intimacy as means to drive social interaction, develop a relationship with friends and work towards a sense of identity. The intermediate childhood endeavors intimacy from a friendship that is based on activities rather than honesty or self-disclosure (Adams, 2000).

The young adult and adolescent intimacy concept is different that of childhood and friendship is no more just based on activities. The intimacy with opposite sex drives the level of attachment for the young adults. The dating and romance form the base of intimacy for adolescent, and psychological development plays an indispensable role in defining affection during that given period.

The level of intimacy gets deep as the movement from childhood till adulthood and the objective of intimacy moves from affection towards friendship and gradually ends up getting love. The closeness also steps away from feeling based towards more physical desire to be intimate during adulthood.

The physical and cognitive changes are less dramatic during early and middle adulthood than during adulthood. The early adulthood has more muscular and lean body, and gradually it accumulates mass as it reaches middle adulthood. The sensory ability also slowly diminishes as the individual move from early to middle adulthood since the body gradually starts getting aging over a period (Moore, Dignam, & Concept Media, inc, 2007).

The early adulthood witnesses’ growth in body mass index and physical toning of the body gradually start taking place. The first adulthood witnesses’ prime of the energy state in their body however as the individual enters the middle adulthood the energy level begins to go down progressively.

The primary similarity remains that body composition like facial resemblances, weight, height, and language tone remains identical during early and middle adulthood. The delineating starts as the individual reach middle adulthood and weakness of eyes, premature fatigue and also suffer from hair loss (Rayner, 2005). The middle adulthood also witnesses ailments like high cholesterol problem, blood pressure issues, and low bone density issues. The physical ability to perform substantial tasks, cognitive and sensory ability changes as a person goes through middle adulthood from early adulthood.

Part C

The assignment purpose is to enable understanding around stages of life and its particular impact on interpersonal relationships, intimacy and physical and cognitive changes that occurred from childhood till adulthood. Each step of life has essential aspects that drive the social structure, and one of them is the interpersonal relationship that motivates the level of communication between individuals in society.

The level of intimacy and need changes at each of the life stage since childhood the intimacy is more towards parents while adulthood looks for intimacy from opposite sex. The affection is also linked with the physical and cognitive change that is witnessed moving from one stage of adulthood towards another.

All the given information enabled me to develop practical and sufficient understanding around topics and related subject since they were able to link the theoretical approach with practical knowledge around its applicability at each stage of growth and development of lifecycle from childhood till adulthood.
