Among those historic places in the world that are revered in the community include the Chauvet Cave. Unlike other sites, the cave has received little attention because of the health risks that are associated with visiting it. Although the cave is among those places that are recognized as tourist attraction places, it is highly regulated by the French government. The decision to restrict the entrance to this cave is because of the high levels of carbon dioxide in the cave. Though Chauvet Cave is among those places that attract a huge population of tourists, it is among those places that are neglected because of the risk that is associated with visiting the area.
The decision for producers of the documentary to use the term Cave of Forgotten Dreams might have been triggered by the sensitivity that is required when visiting the place. Aspöck (2012) argues that in most cases there are those places that serve as attractive tourist sites, but because of the imminent dangers, most governments tend to restrict access. When a tourist's security is at risk, then it will be considerate for the France government to create restrictions on how people visit such an area. The decision to limit the number of people visiting Chauvet Cave could be an intrusion to the rights of tourist, but it is a safer approach.
By visiting Chauvet Cave, people get the opportunity to understand some of the vital issues relating to human origin. However, the sensitivity relating to people's security is an aspect that makes the Chauvet Cave be a forgotten tourist feature. Before ensuring that people visit specific areas, Pettitt, and Bahn (2015) reveal that it is significant to look at issues such as security. Although Chauvet Cave offers crucial information on human evolution, tourist visits is a guarded issue because of security concerns.
