Senator Kevin De León is renowned for engineering the authorship of Senate Bill 100 on the emission of green gases. The legislation targeted California’s Renewable Portfolio Standard Program. According to De León, this bill focused on having the standards of renewable energy improved by 2030. Moreover, De León projected that by 1945, California would benefit from the utilization of totally clean energy.
Consequently, in 2017, the bill had to get subjected to a series of amendments by California’s senate and assembly. The Senate approved the legislation in 2017, but the law could not progress before the term’s end. Later on, the third of July 2018 marked a remarkable event. The California Assembly Committee responsible for Utilities and Energies passed the bill. On August 20, 2018, SB – 100 by De León gained the Assembly’s consideration.
Various committees became responsible for enhancing the significance of SB – 100. In the process, Senator De León made possible collaborations with a team of coauthors drawn from the Senate as well as the assembly. Moreover, other state agencies, for instance, the California Air Resources Board (CARB), California Energy Commission (CEC), and California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), foresaw the implementation of De León’s bill.
Overall, the need to have California subject to the long-term use of one hundred percent electricity produced from the environmentally friendly renewable sources resulted in the success of De León’s Senate Bill 100. Besides, the California Assembly Utilities and Energy Committee enforced the bill’s significance. Four associates from 350 Sonoma formed the steering committee which participated in the hearing. California’s activists would mention how the legislation was naturally essential. In reality, the bill had to pass because it provided California with the assurance of utilizing environmentally clean energies.
