Animal Abuse
Animal abuse is a vice in the society that must be eliminated. There are various kinds of animal abuse which have impacts on the animal life. In the daily course of our lives as human beings, it is very easy to spot instances of animal abuse. It may not only involve the physical abuse but also may alter the presence of animals in their entire life. Animal abuse also entails the emotional abuse that affects the way the animal acts in their entire life. The most devastating fact is that animals do not have voices to stand up for themselves, though humans can change the way they treat animals as well as to fight for their rights. Animals need our help and we should care for them by treating them nicely.
A Memorable Encounter
A few years ago, I was walking down the street at Dog Alley at the Anderson Lane. I was accompanied by a sister, Annie, who was on her summer holiday. We had no idea of what it means to have a pet, an event that made Annie ask mum if she could buy us a pet. Mum agreed and the following day she brought a small female dog. We named the dog Donnie. She was hyper, fluffy and adorable.
A Disturbing Sight
As we walked down the street in another instance, we noticed a man who was selling two different types of dogs. One of the dogs fat, slobbery and was curious and playful. The other dog was in a cage and was crouched in a corner. The dog in the cage jumped upon hearing the loud noise of the cage door opening, but upon coming from the cage, she did not want to be touched. Annie was immediately attracted by the shy dog and he picked her. The shy dog was shaking uncontrollably as she kept her head tucked under her armpit. After some short discussion on the nature of the dog, we decided to buy the cute shy dog. We rushed home to show mum the new addition of the pets at home. After buying the collar and leash, we lay her on the floor so that she could walk but the poor animal could not move. She stayed stuck on one position with her tail tucked between her legs. We decided to carry her and help her from the agony of interacting with the new people.
A Journey to Recovery
The following day, we set the young pup on her bed and gave her plenty of food and water. She would still take eat nor drink. Thus, we decided to put the two dogs together. the older pet nudged the new pet with her nose but the newest young animal could not acknowledge her. We later came to learn that the young animal had been abused and required some vet attention. We called a known vet who attended to the dog and advised us to treat the young animal warmly as she was passing through some physical, psychological and emotional torture. With time, the state of the pet improved and she started responding positively.

Animal abuse is a common is a social vice that is widely various forms. It entails overt and intentional violence inflicted on animals as well as failure to give the animal the basic welfare. There are many forms of animal cruelty but various institutions have been set in place to look after the animal welfare, including the territory animal welfare and state legislation. The bottom line of animal cruelty is for humans to take care of the animals and respect their welfare. The state and territory animal welfare legislation is against animal cruelty and has imposed obligations to the human beings to meet their needs.
