The social reality experiment was carried out in a college environment as the unit of study. I selected 30 volunteers from among the participants, who were all students. This includes my research team, which consists of 30 college-bound adolescent students. In terms of variables, I have a dependent variable in the form of agitation and three independent variables in the form of gender, time, and age.
Time
Gender
Age
Irritation
Which of the three major sociological perspectives discussed in this course does this theory favor, and why?
Sociological insights include a thorough examination of social organization, including the social context in which the experiment takes place. One of the best examples of combining three major sociological viewpoints to study human behaviors under certain circumstances in a specific situation. Symbolic interactionism, functionalist perspective, and conflict perspective include the perspectives covered throughout this course.
The symbolic interactionism perspective deals with the study of symbols, their meanings in this study of the ‘social experiment itself’, and how people behave toward certain stimuli or inducements. The functionalist perspective here is well depicted through the interrelations among the different participants who are the students in a college (Dorn, 2007). How all the participants behave is well-established through this perspective. The conflict perspective in this experiment can be observed from the changing nature of the participants under certain conditions.
Briefly translate your theoretical model above into complete sentences:
Gender does affect keeping straight face. Females get more irritated than males.
Irritation increases with time.
It is interesting to observe that age is directly proportionate to irritation.
