Secularization and its Impact
Secularization transforms society from religious affiliations to adopt values that are nonreligious. With the increased use of technology and the media influence, the idea of secularization is going to grow in the future. Most people follow what they read on social media, and they do not take time to reflect on whether it is right or wrong (Green 311).
Globalization and Changing Religious Beliefs
Globalization has changed the cultural values of the people as well as their religious beliefs and attitudes, and people now make opinions based on what they have learned in modern culture other than the values that were taught to them while growing up as children.
The Decline of Fundamentalism
Fundamentalism, on the other hand, refers to the forms of religion that are developed by particular religious affiliations, such as Islam, Christianity, or Protestantism. The religion teaches people to uphold strict beliefs that literally interpret the scripture.
During the coming years, fundamentalism will decrease because in modern times few people are willing to abide by strict beliefs and values. People want some form of freedom, even on matters that relate to religion (Green 311). It is the change in expectations and the attitudes of the young people which is going to contribute to a decline in fundamentalism.
Most people have deviated from the believers, based on study and research that is carried out. At the same time, in the present people have begun to question where specific values originated from, and people are no longer willing to base their opinions on the information that has existed in the past, but rather understand why people, for example, in a particular set of beliefs do things the way they do. Because of that, fundamentalism will decrease in the future while secularization will increase.
