The recent immigration sanctions and laws brought about by the new Trump’s government have led to lots of discussions on what is right and wrong about the issue. To some people, America is deferring dreams and cutting on peoples wishes. The paper will discuss insights surrounding the immigration move.
Is America a Salad Bowl
To start with, America has been considered to be the land of opportunity in many developing nations and even those which are developed. The insight has given the government a lot of immigrants flooding from all points of the earth, and this is the reason so many ethnicities are found in the country. America is, therefore, a salad bowl for it carries a lot of ethnicities from all around the world (Conn).
The Media and Undocumented resident
The role of the media in the society is mainly to report on current events and collect views on issues. The press seems to paint illegal immigrants as terrorists and crime perpetrates by reporting on such allegations, yet they too know that there are immigrants who have helped build the nation economically by enhancing productivity at work. The media echoes what is happening in the country, and currently, illegal immigrants have also been viewed to be stealing jobs (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPiXeRO6YNI).
Most Americans also feel like illegal immigrants in the country are taking away their jobs and they need to protect them. They feel like most of their jobs have gone to immigrants such as Mexicans. From the point of view, the state should work on controlling wage control so that all workers have equal pay and rights hence this way issues of ethnicity won’t come to play but only job qualifications. Immigrants have not stolen jobs, but immigrants are being used by being offered slightly low pay compared to the citizens. The media is a source of information hence the impact of their sentiments are felt. Labeling the immigrants as terrorists and thieves have adverse consequences on them as this may even lead to ethnic wars (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPiXeRO6YNI).
Why Immigration is a Widely Debated Topic
Immigration has become a widely discussed topic especially due to the sanctions that Trump is imposing on immigrants such as building walls along borders, eradicating the DACA system and even arguing towards the abolition of citizenship by birth about immigrants. Trump argues that his primary agenda is to make America great again and that involves eradicating immigrants and that is why the issue has been hitting the headlines recently (Martin).
Thoughts on Young Immigrants Granted Citizenship
My thoughts on young children of immigrants granted citizenship is that I side with documenting them for that is the nation they are born in hence they should not be neglected. Most children have started there life there, grown with people in America such as neighbors as friends, etc. therefore deporting them to new places they not conversant with may mentally affect them by causing trauma which may lead to PTSD.
Dreamers Impact on the Issue
The thoughts that the children were once dreamers affect my decision for they have made friends in the USA and even worked at some time hence helped build the economy. They have no other home as all their lives have revolved around the United States. The governments should therefore not kick them out but process them documents.
