During my childhood days, I enjoyed visiting different beautiful places with my family. One place really made me feel very happy when we visited. Although we visited the place once in my childhood, I still have a clear memory of the beautiful scenery and experiences I had there. This beautiful place is Washington Park. Washington Park is situated in Oregon State. The park is within the urban settings of Portland city and covers the wooded and majorly steep land. It is made up of various amazing features that are pleasing to the eyes of everyone. These features include a hot arboretum, zoo, archery range, memorials, forestry, Japanese garden, tennis court, children’s playgrounds, and soccer fields. The variety of attractive places in the park compels me to wish to return to the park repeatedly. I would like to go back to the park to play soccer, visit memorial sites and the zoo, and go for walks in the trails inside the wild forest.
My love for Washington Park started from the zoo where I love the experience with different species of wild animals. As a kid, my parents took me to the zoo. Since then, I have been longing to go back and have the same experience. Oregon zoo houses nearly 2000 animals from 200 species around the world. One unique thing that attracts me to Oregon zoo is the variety of wild animals from Africa. Since I have never traveled to Africa due to long distance, I find Washington Park as a perfect alternative to see the African animals in the zoo that include African wild dog, cheetah, lions and the Nigerian dwarf goat among many other animals from Asia and America. As an animal lover, visiting the zoo will definitely help me understand the suitable habitats for different animals hence assist in discovering ways that can make wild animals lives better in their natural habitats.
Secondly, the picnic areas and walking trails in the steep and wild forest gives me the yearning to visit the place once more. Although during my only visit, I did not go for walks nor visit the picnic area, I am now longing to go there and explore the pleasure of walking in the forest with friends. The long trails in the forest can be so interesting considering that picnic areas are scattered across the forest. The Portland Japanese garden inside the Washington Park is another feature that makes me want to go back to the park. The garden is considered the most beautiful Japanese garden that is located outside of Japan. It is also a genuine Japanese garden in the States. I would love to visit the eight different garden styles to experience Japanese environments within the park. The garden styles are meandering streams, waterfalls, teahouse, walkways, the umami café, and the cultural village. There are several memorials and statues within the part, which are free to visit. I would like to see the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in the park.
In conclusion, as demonstrated by the large variety of sites to visit at the Washington Park, there is always a yearning to go back there. One cannot explore the full beauty of the park in a single day; hence, visiting it severally gives the opportunity to tour all parts of the park. Therefore, the diverse attraction sites at the Washington Park make me wish to return. By going back to the park, I would visit the places I did not visit when we visited as a family during my childhood, on top of experiencing the areas I had visited.
