In a Doll’s house, Dr. Rank and Torvald get to show instances of taking time to adapt to the reality that they should face. These two individuals get to instances where they are supposed to handle critical matters in the society. The instances which they face are however not fully absorbed to them and they react in manners that portray lack of a systemic approach to handling the issue. In looking at how Dr. Rank reacts to his father’s promiscuity that leads to Dr. rank having a venereal disease associated with the father’s promiscuity, it is notable that he is not in the right position of coming to terms with the reality that his father had in some instance cheated on the mother. This instance gets to make the Doctor have a certain level of spite against the father and also makes him draw away from the biological father who could help in taking care of certain activities which help in the identity of better activities. Dr. Rank is, therefore, an instance of an individual who does not have the ability to handle major issues which affect him. On the other hand, Torvald does not have the ability to cope with the reality that his spouse could deceive him. The instance where he gets to prevent the children from interacting with Nora makes an impact on the development of a model to cope. His lack of copping makes it much easier to identify that the character has a problem with reality. The difficulty in accepting reality is therefore showcased in this instances to help with the propagation of ardent value and address to the major issues in the community.
Comparison of the two books
The two books get to look into the aspect of adjustment into reality in two different ways. While the books get to agree that the characters have to look into the real issue that they would not love to associate with first, before acting, they also look into certain similarities. In both of the books, the characters are associated with different issues that make them have a negative orientation whenever they are supposed to step up. They react in ways that push them away from the social mores. For instance, Laura does not love to associate with individuals since she knows that the figures that appear in her dreams are of those that are in a glass condition. On the other hand, when Dr. Rank gets to know of his status, he distances himself from the father. Therefore, they push themselves away from the society in a way that impacts on the overall need to enhance their association with the community. This is a way that they get to react altogether in the two books.
On the other hand, while Henrik Ibsen associates the coping issues with a negative interpersonal disorder, Tennessee gets to associate it with moving away from humans completely. The characters from a doll’s house are seen to be individuals who get to shut from their normal ways of interaction to be individuals that do not love being with others.
