My preferred season of the year is summer because of the warm weather and endless fun. I cherish summer due to the perfect atmosphere it creates hence allowing us to indulge in outdoor activities like swimming, traveling, and hiking. The options are endless when the weather is beautiful with the sun out, slight cool breeze and not a cloud in the sky. However, during winter the cold is too much, and no one feels like doing anything, especially outdoor activities. All you want is to stay in the house and keep warm.
Summer seasons are the best time for activities and festivals. I never get bored on summer day or night. I spend most of my time with mom, dad, and my little sister. If not on the weekends, we always do something together on weekdays whether we take barbeques or spend a wonderful time at the Jersey Shore. I love the hot and humid summer days that make me want to dive into the fresh and cool pool of water or go for a picnic.
The Independence Day, Fourth of July, which occurs in summer is a big day for America and me as a citizen. The day marks the birth of America and the time we got independence from the British Empire. This day reminds us of our patriotism and responsibilities as US citizen. During this time, fireworks displays occur in major cities. One of my favorite complementary events during the Independence Day is the baseball games that happen across the country.
Friends and family spend a lot of time together during summer. My family is not an exception. Usually, we have lots of drinks, good food, and fun music. At evenings and nights, the city lights glitter and sparkle producing beautiful scenery. People gather around to watch the display of fireworks and celebrate. However, in winter, it may be challenging to get out of the house and meet friends due to the un-conducive weather.
Also, studies show that summer seasons are good for our bodies in many ways. During summer, there is a lot of sunlight which helps the body process large quantities of vitamin D that help maintain the health of our teeth, bones and immune system. Additionally, persons tend to be more active and take a lot of water during summer, which is a good thing. Summer provides the best opportunity to exercise. I love working out in summer. The body gets covered in sweat much faster hence releasing the accumulated toxins. I usually run in the park, take our dog for a walk in the woods or take a hike to the national park together with my Dad.
Moreover, summer comes with many fresh foods. Watermelons, grapes, strawberries, limes, mangoes, blackberries… the list goes on. All these healthy fruits are in peak season in summer and may be grown locally depending on where someone stays. The fruits are better tasting and at lower prices.
In conclusion, summer comes with a lot of exciting events such as the Independence Day and sporting. Also, it provides an opportunity for one to spend time with friends and family, and participate in outdoor activities such as trekking, swimming, and camping. It is during summer time that there are a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables. For these reasons, I will always look forward to summertime.
