The Spirit of Enlightenment
The key aim of the spirit of enlightenment was to create more awareness among people. The enlightenment was also considered to be an Age of reason. A society that acts morally in most instances regarded to be more enlightened (Bishop 48). In other words, individuals can choose right and wrong and acted accordingly compared to the society that is not more enlightened. However, Most of the people perceive the spirit of enlightenment as illuminating the human intellect as well as the culture after the dark middle period. The enlightenment spirit comprises of concepts like reason, liberty together with the scientific process. It is through enlightenment that people would understand and relate a various aspect of life, and take some measures to improve their situation and also being liberated in a manner that they can make critical decisions on their own. For that reason, this paper will analyze why the spirit of enlightenment is still an essential value in the country and finally make a conclusion.
The Growth of Scientific Methods
The spirit of enlightenment is still regarded to be a crucial value in the United States of America as it promotes the growth of scientific methods. In several ways, enlightenment has focused more on ensuring fundamental rights of people and exploring of various scientific aspects of life. Therefore, enlightenment is also considered to be based on the development of contemporary science such as how an individual thinks and also use their capability in different interlinking issues in life. For example, through various scientific methods such as using plowing in farming has enabled people to manage to farm effectively. On the other hand, It is through the spirit of enlightenment that the society has been able to practice modern politics and ensure freedom is practices, for instance, regarding practicing democracy as people have understood the importance of practicing fairness in the country. For a long time, enlightenment has been interlinked with the foundation of contemporary western politics and intellectual culture. It is because most countries notably the United States of America have introduced democratic values and institution and establishment of moderate democracies. Individuals were not aware that they have rights to exercise and therefore through enlighten they were able to embrace. For that reason, democracy encourages peace among people in the country (Bishop 66).
The Enhancement of Culture and Arts
Cultures such as embracing artist, painting has been enhancing through the spirit of enlightenment making it a critical aspect within the society. The enlightenment refined the arts and ensures people use various artistic styles to communicate given information to people. The emphasis on learning, art as well as music has become more widespread, particularly with the high, improving middle class. As several musicians depend more on the public support, the majority of public concerts became increasingly popular and assisted performers as well as composer's incomes. The concerts assisted the musicians to reach the high number of audiences. For instance, using pop culture gained more fame with different performances of the operas which are mostly interlinked with enlightenment standards. On the other hand, the desire to discover, record and classify knowledge has a significant impact on the music publication which was influenced by the liberal values. On the other hand, by individuals understanding various artistic songs related to pop culture they can use it as a way of rebelling against the means and culture of the dominant groups of the community.
Education and the Exercise of Rights
Spirit of enlightenment is a crucial value in the country since it educates the citizens so that they can be able to exercise their rights appropriately. Individuals can be free from any authority or received opinions, the education is one of the ways people and community, in general, get enlightened. The country has breakaway from just relying on the past educational approaches as well as thinkers to determine the current system of education. However, the ideas and legacy of most of the philosophers of the past have assisted in guiding the education system to where it is at the moment. It is crucial to acknowledge that their way of thinking focuses towards ensuring people obtains the required knowledge that can assist in future. As a way of rethinking and reconstructing education to fit the 21 st century, it is important to acknowledge the intensity of ideas and how education has been transformed in the modern world. For example, due to the spirit of enlightenment, children can be taught using charts and pictures to enhance learning.
