An added benefit of group assessment is that the student must first reflect on their own understanding to be able to assess their colleagues' performance (Lord, Crow, & French, 2009). Furthermore, the teacher evaluates the project at every stage; from the planning process to the presentation of the final report. The final process involves the learners doing lab reports. This activity allows the teacher to gauge the ability of the learner to observe, record, and interpret the results of an experiment (Frankland, 2007).
