Science is perhaps the most critical topic in education, and it is used to pique the learner's attention and pleasure by cultivating and fostering imagination and imagination. It allows both the instructor and the students to improve their comprehension by appraisal for learning. Self-assessment, test papers, observation, and lab reports are some of the most effective ways of assessment in science.
The instructor should use observation as an appraisal tool to concentrate on knowledge, ideas, and behaviors. However, in order to keep track, they must be effective record keepers, since observations and interactions are quickly overlooked. The teacher should, therefore, make brief notes and also keep checklists as they help them maintain reliable records of student progress and achievement. Self-assessment is vital in learning and therefore a valuable assessment process. Here the learner is encouraged to assess their own work by reflecting on the progress they have made towards achievement of a prescribed learning outcome. In self-assessment, learners apply criteria and expectations that help them see themselves as scientists and problem solvers.

Research reports, done either as part of a group or as an individual project, allow the learners to demonstrate whether they have mastered the prescribed learning outcomes. Peer assessment provides an opportunity for the students to assess how well they can work as part of a team. They also get a chance to assess on their colleagues. An added benefit of group assessment is that the student must first reflect on their own understanding to be able to assess their colleagues' performance (Lord, Crow, & French, 2009). Furthermore, the teacher evaluates the project at every stage; from the planning process to the presentation of the final report. The final process involves the learners doing lab reports. This activity allows the teacher to gauge the ability of the learner to observe, record, and interpret the results of an experiment (Frankland, 2007).
