Religious movement

Globally, there are many trends associated with faith, customs, and race that have an effect on day-to-day human life. The landscape of religious movements differs according to culture. The various acts play various roles in the community's day-to-day life. Good contributions, as well as negative effects, exist. The main religious movements practiced globally include Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism, and Islam by various groups based on their geographical faith or where the individual was born in terms of family upbringing or belief. Therefore, in this context, religious movement is a very vital element to be considered, since both of them has a significant influence on an individual or society as a whole. In the entire universe now Christianity is the one holding the highest rate than the other religious practices.
Christianity is a theological, philosophical or a political interpretation of Christianity that is not limited to a specific sect, denomination or church. Christianity started 2000 years ago in Judea. Christians believe in the holy trinity that is the faith in three Gods’ in one; The Father, Son and the holy Spirit. All Christians believe in the holy bible where there are prophecies and instructions for the Christian life. Christians globally are governed by the same faith despite them attending various churches such as Catholics and Pentecostals group.
Christianity has an impact on different dimensions of life including, political, economical, international relations among others. Christianity may affect policy and social lives. In the political arena, Christianity has a past involvement in this. The political influence of Christianity also recognized as its moral power which had an impact on paganism. Christianity led to the two worlds the civil liberty that is combined public opinion and efficient government systems representation (Galatians 4:10), Paul advocates for proper authorities. Christians believe in unity; they are one body of Christ. The Bible has explained about leaders and their position in any given nation; therefore Christians advocate for proper political lines which are free from corruption and wars in any country that believes in it. In the earlier testament version , Joseph and Daniel served in the social government applying a positive influence to flourish their people within their jurisdiction zone.
Christianity has an impact on social life in that the Christians have practices which involve social gatherings. There are seasons in Christianity calendar which involves people meeting for merry in remembrance on critical occasions. Some of these include occasions like Easter holidays; in recognition of death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Another important day event is Christmas this to commemorate the birth of Jesus. These times are meant to bring the Christians together as well as mark the special events. Also, Happy New Year is also another significant day celebrated by Christianity worldwide, thanking the Almighty for the far He has brought an individual. One marks that its Gods favor, mercy and love that had enabled him to see another year. Governments restrain evil and encourage good work. The mandate is stated from Romans 13:1-7. Alvin Schmidt documents the influence of Christianity in the government in various ways including; outlawing child abandonment and gladiatorial games in the old Roman government, brought to an end the human sacrifice among the European cultures, prohibition of polygamy and ban the burning of the widows in India.
Belief in God has affected peoples’ thinking on behavior and lifestyle a study carried 2011 proved that religion could shape, improves and enhances life through embracing health social behavior and social support. Religion is a subject that we come across daily (Lewis, 2013). It is a system about various aspects of life touching on rituals, ceremonies, moral conduct and life philosophies (Wellman, 2017).Generally religion plays a key role by adding purpose and meaning to the followers life, thus being of great important in appreciations of the past and present and future optimism as well as giving emotional stability. Although religion speaks harmony, love and good heart of one person to the other, where obstacles and up and downs had been the dominant issue had taken place (Lewis, 2013). Lifestyle also concerns on different circumstances such as families, friendship zone and entertainment style. The standard of living also replicate on people’s character driven by decisions from the collective environment and the nation success (Lewis, 2013).
Christian ethical systems contain the grain in the Christian code of professional conduct. The Christians who understand the truth of Gods’ law, they must dedicate their lives to obeying it thoroughly so as to attain maximum blessings from the Almighty.
There is, however, a contradiction in that the only person whose final decision is not their reason, principles, conscience, freedom and virtue to devote their lives to God. These are the people who are ready to embrace Gods morals with all their soul, body, mind, strength and spirit, who treat others as they deserve. They may be serving in the government positions, in slavery, a non-governmental Christian organization, or the mission field sacrificing all for the gospel sake, Hebrews 11:32.
Christianity as a movement is, therefore, important because it has a public responsibility in history and is one among the world’s leading religions. According to the statistics carried in 2014, Christianity had the largest adherents of any religion with two billion followers of the teachings. The lessons are critical to the believers; among the teachings are the keys to developing a closer relationship with God and moral life. Christianity practices are believed to be started even before Jesus was born, in the days of kings such as Moses and Joshua.
The responsibility of Christianity has in a widely altered in the whole universe at various points through history, and there have been times when Christians are killed for their beliefs. Here, most Christians have been murdered in mysterious ways by their fellow competitors who are Islam. On the other hand, there tend to other key areas prevailing in the world, or its devotee has been prejudiced of further non-Christian religions. Through worship, Christians have a lot of fellowship or togetherness, how to strengthen relationships with God, and how to live a healthy life within a particularly based on religion. As a result, the Christian religion is significant to its believers. It highly affects daily lives on how many of the people are being influenced, and how and it is interacted with others. One importance of these teachings, as well as how they brunt the Christians lives within the society in the ten written and practiced Commandments. According to the Bible scriptures here are the ten laws that were written and still being practiced in every Christian life, believed to be sent by God through Moses for all Christians to follow on their path to living. Throughout the world the various religion movements there are, all plays a significant role. There are common characteristics they share while others have differences which according to research some faith beliefs have a negative impact on the welfare of the states they are practice.
Lesson Learnt
Through the semester I have learned there is a difference between traditions and religion movements in the global world. The culture affects religion while religion affects the habits. Tradition is something frequently done in time intervals and keep it up for years. Religion, on the other hand, may have certain traditions which are elite to them. There are traditions independent of religions, for instance, going to church every day may be religion related to cultures. Religion autonomous is to have a get-together sort kind of thing every year which can depend on the people who follow them. Tradition is a practice without reference to books of the code of acceptable conduct in any sphere of life that may be faith, law, governance or lifestyle. Therefore traditions are the set of practices without references while religion is established on texts such as scriptures.
I was surprised to learn how Western cultural traditions influences greatly on the Christianity religion. I had for a long time challenge argued that the Christianity nation-shaping culture is absurd. Religion, as I had thought, is a manifestation of culture, not the vise verse. The technological and economic level of a society determines the religious values of the people in that nation. Some people also define religion as formal rituals and say these practices are manifestations of deeply held values. Christianity doctrines can make a significant impact on traditions.
In Christianity, being on an essential side of cultural practices has more biblically and religious oriented oratory expectation. In the near the beginning missionary era, this view which influenced the missionary systems. For example, in India understood culture as barbaric because they failed to distinguish the difference between culture and religion. Usually normative and perspective fails in predictions, though the culture perceived as being the soil of the religion and faith the soul of the culture do not agree with sociology tests. On the other hand, because religion happens in a particular culture, does not establish the fact that the religion is part of the culture therein.
When the Islam came to India, it failed to demonstrate that that culture to be part of the culture which did not come in beliefs of books. Those who brought it held in a particular culture. It was not the Islamic culture but the culture of those who brought the Islamic faith that interacted with the culture of the locals to result in a different culture. Akbar is the only emperor who tried to syncretism religions instead of culture and finally failed.
In Christianity God is esteemed as well as in the African religion. He is the very ground being and necessary for life and existence for everyone. The Christian belief in the church also has similarity to the old African life in which brotherhood and family structure play a core role. The church is the Christian family with Christ as the head and believers connect to each other through baptism and faith in Jesus Christ. The church also connects the dead to the living by honoring them as saints. In the African society, the life also connects to the dead through rituals. Therefore both of them, Christianity and African community practices focus on One God through a different channel.
Islamic part, on the other hand, is a tradition and religion in itself. Islamic culture refers to the cultural practices common to historically Islamic society in the given state. The early people to practice Islamic were the Arabs. Islamic cultures that include practices like Quran practices. Therefore other communities which have adopted Islamic religion have been influenced by the Arabic culture. Islamic culture inherited the Arabic culture it has, therefore, a tradition diffusion based on poetry and written narrations. It’s the second largest religion practices that follow the Christianity which holds the leading percentage of people in the whole world. According to the latest polls by various analyst institutions, for instance, Infotrack, it’s believed to be the most growing religion which in later years it may take the top position.
Judaism is an old religion of monotheistic (belief in one God) Abraham religion founded on Torah. It is a supplemental oral tradition represented by Midrash and the Talmud. It is the expression of the predictable relationship that God established with the Israelites people. There are various practices, texts, forms of organization and religious aspects. Just like Christianity, there are various movements in Judaism. These changes evolved as a result of Rabbinic Judaism which believes that God revealed the laws and commandments in written tablet; Torah to Mosses on Mount Sinai. Judaism is a religious culture of the Jewish compared to a doctrine. The progression of this religion viewed as the continuity of the of Jewish generations. Therefore intermarriage is discouraged, the Jewish only allows the incoming persons who will join their faith and culture by conversion. Biblical concepts seek on maintaining peace; the Jewish teach that peace and conciliation should be solicited where it is not the role of the aggressor to make demands neither does it rule or natural resistance to a threat.
In conclusion, there is a significant role that religion plays in the traditions as well as the global view. It is, therefore, significant, to be affiliated with a religious sect. Though there is the influence of the religion by the laws, most religions are working hard to ensure their values are in position for the wellbeing of the whole world. Despite Christianity holding the first position in the world followed by Islamic category, it is being faced with stiff competition. From the second group which is Islamic, the religion is having a steady and fast growth in various parts of nations in the world that might at the end, lead to being the top religion all over. Most Christians are converted to Islamic at a higher rate through different means such as marriages. The most differential thing that Christian and Muslim have is the way of belief, both of them believe in the existence and help of God, but Christians believe that it’s through Christ that one gets to communicate to the Almighty, while on the other side of Islamic cultures it’s through Mohammed.
