Peacock Streaming Service From NBC and Comcast

Introduction

Peacock is the new streaming service from NBC and Comcast that's available to Comcast Xfinity 1 or Flex cable subscribers as of July 15. It offers thousands of hours of entertainment, including curated channels, Telemundo, and select episodes of Peacock originals.

Availability

The platform is available on Vizio, Samsung, and LG smart TVs, as well as iOS and Android mobile devices, Roku, Android TV, Fire TV, Xbox One, PlayStation, Chromecast, Xfinity, and Flex devices. It's also available through the official website.

Interface and Features

Its interface is similar to that of a cable TV set-top box, with a series of rectangles and tabs, with a streamlined "Trending" section on top. It's also got a grid of 21 "channels" for on-demand programming.

Content Offerings

With the free ad-supported version, you'll find up to 7,500 hours of content. That includes next-day access to current seasons of TV shows, movies and classics--though not Friends--along with daily news clips, curated channels, Telemundo and select episodes of Peacock originals.

Premium subscribers will get even more, with a growing library of Peacock originals. They include Poker Face, a comedy mystery starring Rian Johnson and Natasha Lyonne; Paul T. Goldman, a true-crime show that doesn't always make sense; Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin, a spinoff of the popular comedy Pitch Perfect; Bel-Air, a comedy centered on a real estate agent and her relationship with a famous rapper; Last Light, a horror-comedy about a woman who tries to kill her daughter; Housewives Mash-up, a mashup of the popular reality shows Housewives and Cheers; Five Bedrooms, a series inspired by a 1970s sitcom; Lady Parts, a comedic musical; Who Wrote That, a sketch-comedy based on a classic television series; The Amber Ruffin Show, a comedy and news talk show; Armas De Mujer, a documentary series examining the lives of Latin Americans around the world; and Caso Cerrado, a docudrama about a man who's retracing his roots.

New Universal Movies Are Streamed Faster Through Peacock

As of 2022, Universal will debut its theatrical movies on streaming services and pay cable outlets 45 days after they've been released in theaters, so you can catch new releases like Jurassic Park: Dominion and Minions: The Rise of Gru before everyone else. This is a huge advantage for Peacock and makes it worth subscribing to the service.

Streaming Content for Everyone

There's a wide range of TV content on Peacock, from modern comedies and dramas to classics like The Office, Friday Night Lights, and Battlestar Galactica. Plus, a growing number of Peacock's originals are coming out every month or so.

You can also watch a wide variety of news shows, from NBC's Nightly News to MSNBC's cable news channel and the NBC News Now service. Additionally, The Amber Ruffin Show is exclusive to Peacock, with the writer and performer providing her commentary on the week's biggest stories.

Conclusion

It's not as big as a streaming platform as other rivals, such as Netflix and Hulu, but there's plenty to like about Peacock. It's the best option if you love to binge on a variety of different types of content.
