Orenthal James Simpson

Orenthal James Simpson was born in San Francisco, California and grew up with his mother Eunice and father Jimmy Lee Simpson. He attended Galileo High School, where he was a star football player.

During his time at USC, he set NCAA records and won the Heisman Trophy. He was drafted by the Buffalo Bills and played in the NFL for 11 seasons. He is regarded as one of the greatest running backs in history and was inducted into both the College Football Hall of Fame and Pro Football Hall of Fame.

He was acquitted of the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman in 1995, after a sensational criminal trial. The media and public reaction to the case sparked a debate over whether he had been framed by the police and made him an international icon.

His acquittal prompted many people to become apprehensive about his behavior and character, especially in upper-class Los Angeles. His friends melted away, and his social circle diminished.

A computer game about O.J.’s acquittal was developed by Banana Productions and debuted in January 1995. It included a mock-up of the famous trial with a photo of O.J. on a bench with the words “O.J. on simple harassment” printed underneath.

After acquittal, Simpson’s popularity soared, and his former friends began to disappear from his life. He has been criticized for his lack of involvement in his children’s education and the negative impact on his family, but was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2006.
