The podcast was based on a cardinal social issue, i.e., violence directed at members of the minority in America, the concept of activism and the toll it takes on those who participate in it was the central focus of the message delivered during the cast.
After an in-depth analysis of the podcast, I have learned some things. First, I learned that the inequality in the society is still at a high level based on the fact that some people are still being treated better the others. I learned that violent acts are still being directed to specific people in the society as a result of being members of the racial minority. I have also discovered that the gun law favors the majority and it is detrimental to members of the minority. Last, I leaned that activism is an essential tool for correcting social injustice and also discovered that the most profound activists had been victims of a level of social injustice at one point in their lives.
I was surprised by the society’s response to acts of violence directed at the minority, most often than not these actions are not given the much-needed attention, and most of the perpetrators of violence against the minority ethnic groups in America are not always punished according to the magnitude of their offense.
There is a level of similarities between the issues of the civil right activism and the concept of justice as portrayed by Stevenson in his book titled just mercy. He pointed out that the American justice system sometimes seems to be more criminal than just based on the fact it tends to repeat acts of cruelty, racism, errors, and malfeasance. Hence it is important to note that civil right activists in America also hold Stevenson’s notion as mentioned above.
