Global Warming and the Debates Surrounding It
Global warming challenge has elicited varied opinion among academicians who have different thinking on the issue. Many argue that since mid-century annual global temperatures have continued to rise significantly which cannot be attributed to climate change. Another group of scientists claims that it is a fact that the realities of global warming are real causing catastrophic impacts on the environment. Different opinions surrounding the issue has led to the creation of various international scientific research organizations like the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), International forums on climate change like the United Nation Convention Framework on Climate change among many other groups. All of these organizations give different statistical views surrounding Global warming thus politicizing the concept of climate change to be a debatable issue in international forums like United Nation.
Natural and Human-Induced Factors in Global Warming
Global warming arises from natural as well as human-induced factors. In my opinion, the rising of temperatures has dramatically been fueled by human activities. Over the years since the industrial era temperatures have risen significantly. Deforestation to create room for housing and agriculture has led to opening up of expansive regions hence inability to trap heat and sequester carbon (IV) oxide from the atmosphere. Failure to catch and retain heat has thus resulted in increasing temperatures. Which has produced catastrophic events like Heat stress: melting of polar glaciers which have led to increased water into oceans, submergence of coastal lowlands and common pests and diseases within the tropics. Therefore it is our duty, that of governments and international organizations to seeks ways to address the menace of Climate Change through research, innovation, and technology that is sustainable and efficient to utilize.
