An incidence where I have experienced expectancy violation is when I published an article commenting about the behaviors of the students and school teachers. I and my colleagues in the journalism club expected a suspension from our principle after we were called to his office. In contrary, the principle was in good mood and we were appointed as the school editorial team. The creativity we used in writing the article also motivated our basketball team to win a tournament that semester. The major reasons why the principal reacted in a way that we were not expecting is because he was very happy after the team won the tournament putting our school on the limelight. The major reason why we know that expectations were violated is that our principal used to very tough and whenever anybody was called in his office something must have gone wrong someone. Everybody in my group was in fear of receiving some form of negative reinforcement, but to our dismay, the principal was very happy, hence we were rewarded in a positive way. To prevent the violation, the principal can be communicating the reason why one is being called before even entering his office. The principal should have a place to comment after reading every article published for us to know whether he is happy or not.
Most of the parents expected their children to condemn them for the actions they take disciplining their kids. Most of the parent expected their children to criticize them due to poor parenting decision they thought they had made while parenting. Everybody should realize that everyone makes a poor decision but most people are appreciative of simple good ones.
