On the other hand, it is only in Italy where the audience was much influenced by the musical art of Verdi.
Wagner changed the opera concept by creating the music drama. This enhanced the inclusion of music and theater or literature at the same time. The music drama operas' main topics were connected to an event, character, or idea. By contrast, Verdi's opera approach was only based on European traditionalism, but Italian bel canto influenced his voice usage.

Wagner was interested in Germany's opera art as he thought that building the festival drama house would help him unite the country politically and culturally.
