Entertainment and sports are two phenomenal industries in this day and age. People around the globe are thoroughly seeking for entertainment in all forms and kinds. The average adult man or woman is allocating time for the much-needed entertainment and more often than not the answer to entertainment is watching a movie or watching a match of soccer rugby, cricket or even basketball and running championships. To a great extent sports like professional wrestling fall under sports entertainment which also has a massive following. The paper seeks to support that athlete and actors are overpaid, to discuss the counterclaim, other related issues such as how the money they are paid are generated and who pays them.
Paying High Prices for Quality Performances
Due to the growing demand in the entertainment and sports sector, athletes and actors are endeavoring to give quality performances every day to match up with the kind of viewership that they are getting. First and foremost it is true that that athletes and actors are paid too much. The main reason for high payments is the fact that the demand for n entertainment is on the rise and people are paying high prices, for example, to watch a movie in 7d or to watch a football match live.
The Growing Serious Business of Sports
It is important to note that sport is entertainment. For athletes, it is becoming serious business from translating that hobby or talent in a particular sport and going professional. Athletes are now hiring coaches, trainers and even personal doctors to attend to them while they go about their daily practice. The amount of money being paid to athletes is becoming more and each day. Athletes are even joining specialized training programs and camps where they aim at perfecting their talents and skills and because of this; they continue to grow their fanatical following who demand the need for entrainment regarding sports.

Paid Handsomely in the Film Industry
Actors are day by day delivering quality films which are hitting the box office at a very fast rate. The unending need to produce more and more films is on the rise enabling the actors to specialize in certain niches. Actors are always bettering their skills. Most actors started acting in school, and close scrutiny is that most were interested in art and theater in their early days and so therefore same as athletes, it became a hobby / talent and had turned out to be a passion. Actors are considerably getting paid well, and this depends on the viewership and how well a film sells Among the highest paid actors in 2017 are Mark Wahlberg, Tom Cruise and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. Their salaries have been in the range of $68 million to $40 million. It is no doubt that this is very high payment considering that the amount is paid for one film so if the actor does two films in three years which gets high ranking in the box office, the actor will be enjoying his way to the bank. The Disparity in Pay
However, it is sad to note that despite the high payments received by athletes and actors there is still a gap in the society we live in. For instance, one would wonder why are athletes and actors paid such huge amounts while people in other profession don't get as much. A case of an early childhood teacher is an example. Honestly having a deeper look at the work and responsibility an early childhood teacher has is far than that of athletes and actors. An early childhood teacher is tasked with the duty teaching an creating a firm foundation regarding imparting knowledge and basic skills to a child of three years of age. On the other side, the teachers get so meager earnings. According to Hannah Brock, doctors, teachers, and the military servicemen are among the lowest paid and yet they put their lives on the line to help the society. Brooks states that a military man earns about $17-892 to $23 360 depending on the rank while a doctor makes about $ 150 000.Though not ideal, the blame squarely falls on the governments for the poor remuneration policies which should be looked at and facilitate reforms in the remuneration and salary policy (Hannah, 1st March).
Fans as the Source of Payment
Actors and Athletes are being overpaid but taking a closer look at the entertainment and sports industries; it is not governments that offer the high pays. No, money comes from the fans. In real sense athletes and actors are paid by their fans. The money that says a live football match in Manchester generates is from the entry fees into the stadium, the t-shirts, and all this money is sub-divided amongst the players and the football club owners. In the film industry the same also happens that when a film is out the number CD's sold or every time a movie is screened in the theatres, the amount of money made is then sub-divided amongst the various actors. The entertainment and sports industries are growing at a fast rate, and they are also helping in raising the economy. The more the actors and athletes earn the more money they are taxed, and the government also benefit from this. It is from those and other taxes that the teachers, doctors, and members of the armed forces in the military men are paid from.
Entrepreneurship and Passion
Athletes and actors have brought out the true definition of entrepreneurship and passion. They have digressed from the traditional white collar jobs, and they prove to the society that they can, and they have made their hobbies and talents into successful careers. Governments and learning institutions need to work together in integrating to the system to allow an inclusive system of learning where not only theoretical classes are conducted but also highlight another critical area that a child is good at and nurture it from an early age.
