Art and Sustainability

Art can be defined as a variety of activities involving humans in producing visual, acoustic or performing artworks, expounding the original, theoretical idea, or specialized skill of the writer, with the purpose of being appreciated for their attractiveness or emotional control. On the other hand, Sustainability involves coming up with new and improved ways in which human beings use to meet their needs without compromising the integrity and aesthetic beauty of nature. This work explores the relationship between works of arts and sustainability in general to examine the different ways where arts can promote societal sustainability.

Apart from art being part of the society in general, it is also the output of the values and beliefs of the art experts and the audience of the work. Art is considered as the recreation of another and unique fact that cultivates from the reaction of an individual towards life. It enriches our existence as humans by improving, altering and eternalize the composition of our traditions and culture. Art enriches people’s lives by uplifting the individuals’ morale either directly or indirectly, enhancing unity and social togetherness. Art promotes social issues awareness. Art creates awareness of emotions, struggles, and feelings of the society it co-exists within and motivates the society to deal with it and be able to conquer (Stewart).

Great art inspires compelling opinions. Art can be in the form of music, film, theatre, and pop traditions. All of these different forms have the objective of entertaining people and making them happy. The aspect of diversification of art comes in when songs, films, plays are produced for a specific reason or audience. For instance, film creation can be used to circulate and extend cultural awareness and appreciation (Shiner). Songs composition can be done in such a way that they express certain feelings, give motivation, or increase the people’s morale. There are also artworks that can question the way and change the societal behavior. Nevertheless, art exists so that it can be able to be received by people who have common thoughts, experiences, and feelings as the artist themselves.

An individual can interpret the art in many different ways, and the maker wants it to impact them in one way or another. I genuinely believe that skill can affect society and change human behavior at large. To some people songs, pictures and videos may seem to affect them the most but comic books are the most informative and influential because they can have their way into one’s mind and emotions (Stewart). As there are many people in this world so are different types of art. People cannot have the same notion about art which specifically affects them. Majority of individuals casually observes an attractive image and famous artwork, but they do not have a profound thought of the picture. It is barely something that impacts you but something to see. When we watch any video, we get information and facts. We may end up remembering it for a short period but it is something that will motivate you to make an absolute difference. Music as a form of art is highly influential in our society (Giddings et al., 188).

Moreover, art is an essential component of giving power to people’s hearts. When advocating for children living under the absolute poverty or suffering from oppression, the images in their campaigns is the art inspiring the society’s powerful individuals to make a positive change. When the media publish pictures of areas affected by war or hunger struck, it gets a lot of attention from many people who end up helping them out. When an artist produces great movies and music people around the world enjoy them, and they get entertained. Through this, art helps in making the change in society.

Also, art is a peculiar style of expressing culture and traditions from all corners of the world. Creativity can extend cultural exercises from where they initially were, circulate and assimilate them into different geographical regions of the universe while still preserving their origin and identity. This aspect is mainly significant in our increasingly modernized world. The artwork has played a significant role in campaigning against intolerance of a variety of cultures, tribalism, and other forms of societal division (Giddings et al., 190). In today’s world, immigration has become a trend that is growing. Therefore, all countries in the world are expected to tolerate and accept those who cross their geographical borders. Art helps maintain and preserve different cultures and identity of the world’s countries. For instance, the presence of swans in a wedding ceremony symbolizes artwork from the origin of Japan. Also, when you see movies, films, and videos with Bollywood dancing and music, you will eventually know that it is of Indian origin (Giddings et al., 195).

In conclusion, the fact that art is connected to human beings, experience makes it automatically what we always have in our everyday living. This is the reason why present and ancient day groups from all around the world have an urge and a way for using art and their traditional artifacts cultures together, which is one of the vital reasons why art is significant. Therefore, art is critical in enhancing the ways of living and societal sustainability.
