Why Do People Have Dislikes For Music?

Many of these functions are related to the specific songs themselves, while others involve the social contexts in which they occur. For instance, if a person has a strong musical preference for techno and is confronted with a song that they do not like, it may cause them to leave the room or break off social contact.

In addition, musical aversion can be linked to other psychological and social aspects, such as the perception of others’ reactions, self-consciousness, or empathy. These emotions can also be associated with emotional, bodily, and social reactions that are characterized by a range of modalities, including physical pain, anger, fear, and embarrassment.
