Leviathan, a Mythical Sea Creature
Leviathan, sometimes called a whale, is one of the most fearsome and powerful creatures in the world. This sea creature is mentioned in the Bible and is known for its ability to kill large amounts of people by just breathing its foul breath!
The Leviathan in Mythology
The Leviathan is a mythological creature that is a staple in many ancient cultures. It is said to have been created by Yahweh and can be found in various stories from throughout history.
The Terrifying Appearance
Descriptions of the Leviathan vary depending on where it is found in the Bible, but the majority of sources agree that this sea creature is enormous and terrifying. It is often described as having a crocodile-like body with fins, but can also be depicted as more of a dragon-like beast. It is covered in scales and can breathe fire, has sharp claws and rows of razor-like teeth.
The Leviathan's Power and Frustration
It is said that this creature was made by God and lived in the abyss until it was tamed. The Leviathan was not too fond of being under God’s power and would express this frustration by thrashing violently in the abyssal waters, threatening to flood the Earth and swallow the moon and stars but each time it was stopped by God.
A Powerful Primordial Being
This monster was a powerful primordial being that ruled over all of the sea creatures. This monster had many fearsome qualities but was also known for its beauty. The skin of this monster was very beautiful and had a glow to it that is not found in other creatures. It has a sort of fluorescent quality that is similar to the glimmering lights of the sun. Its flippers are also said to glow.
The Unstoppable Leviathan
In the Bible, the Leviathan is described as a giant serpent that cannot be tied down or tamed (Job 41:1, 5). It is incredibly strong and vicious, and even mighty men are afraid of this creature. It cannot be killed by a bow and arrow, but can kill a man with a sword in its mouth. It is also able to create an explosion of fire that can destroy a ship.
Beautiful and Mysterious
This sea monster was also known to have a beautiful skin that glows in the dark. This skin was very rare and was only used by the Leviathan to protect its body and to make it more aesthetically pleasing.
The Power and Danger of the Leviathan
The Leviathan was able to survive underwater, but it was not able to escape its surroundings due to the fact that the water was so deep and it was surrounded by all kinds of creatures from different species. This is probably why it was so powerful and dangerous.
An Encounter with the Moon
Once in a while, the Leviathan would swim up to Paradise where it was able to breach the walls and enter the moon with the intention of consuming it. The archangel Jophiel saw this and took up her sword to cut through the beast's hide, deterring it from its journey and forcing it to flee.
