Other cultures embrace tattooing as a mode of ceremony that has significant meaning to the people in the society. Over the years tattooing has lost its meaning to be a form of artistry which is common in the 21st century. The media is accused of promoting the art, making it influential to the young population through celebrities and tattoo shows. The power of social media has influenced people to tattoo themselves due to pressure and influence from friend or media personalities. The negative effect of the art is that it spread diseases through contamination of the needles. Some of the artists do not take safety measures in preventing the possible spread of infectious diseases. The art poses as a reminder of a special event or individual to the tattooed person. The art has lost the traditional importance as many people are covered with the tattoos which do not have any significant meaning in their lives. Tattooing has evolved from the social-cultural meaning to commercial state. Millions of money is made from the tattooing industry that has gained popularity among the youth who are ignorant on the repercussion of the art. Tattoos have a sense of identity among the celebrity who influences their ideologies to the fans who want to emulate them. The art has mediums that spearhead radical spread in the world today. The article highlights the reasons why tattoos should not be encouraged in the society especially on the youth.
