Reliability Of Web-Based Sites: Avoiding Plagiarism

Reliability of web-based sites and avoiding Plagiarism:

The reliability of a web-based site is dependent on several factors. The first is the currency with regard to when the information was posted and how regularly it is updated. Credible sites are updated regularly with links which work. The URL which is the web address can also point to the credibility of the website.[1] Domain names ending with “.com” are mostly commercial and less credible when compared with those ending with “.edu and .org” which are university and government sites.

Plagiarism can be avoided by citing the author of the work.

Using the different formats such as CMS, APA, and MLA will ensure that the original works of another writer are properly cited. [2]In addition, quoting the work and referencing the quotation is necessary for avoiding plagiarism. Paraphrasing material that is relevant to a research paper is important as it gives ownership to the writer who is paraphrasing. Including a reference page at the end of an academic paper shows the works that have been used and this is vital in avoiding plagiarism.

Part B: Critique of Sample Paper

This sample paper is attached in the appendix section. The first error is in the footnotes. Instead of starting with the author’s first name, the writer of this paper starts with the last name. The writer does not differentiate between the format for the footnotes and the bibliography list and uses the same in both instances. The writer does not enclose the publisher, journal, and dates within a bracket according to the convention of CMS. The titles of the articles are also not in quotation marks as required by the CMS format. In the bibliography section, the writer of the paper does not italicize the titles of the publications which should be in italics as per the CMS style of formatting.

Abstract

The USA is a first world country that has spent much of its resources in warfare and improving the security facilities and the production of modernized weapons such as the atomic and nuclear bombs over the ages. The advancement in technology regarding war and security has placed the united states at crossroads with other nations that are always in operation trying to outdo the united states at the forefront of a first world country with the best facilities and machinery in warfare and security. Ever since the world war one to world war two and many other revolutions around the globe the United States has always been an active member in such operations (Marquis, 2011. (The American government with the help of the required personnel are rebuilding and restructuring the military operations of the USA for the sake of national security and global security at large). For instance, the world war two and the fighting of the rebel groups and the extremists in Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan. The USA has had active military activities over the past thirty-five years and the pattern it draws, clears gives a clear indication that another war is drawing near and the United States military should get prepared enough. The chart that is drawn from the war patterns in that particular period reveals that the US stands in a position of re-organizing its capabilities and forces

Introduction

The history of USA military activities

Since the year 1980, the USA has fought categorically in seven significant combat operations which include the Inherent Resolve or the Iraq Freedom, Allied Forces, Enduring Freedom, Unified Protector or the Odyssey Dawn, Desert Storm, Just Cause and Urgent Fury[3]. They also involved in extensive peacekeeping operations that happened in Kosovo and Bosnia. Beyond the peacekeeping and the combat missions the USA operations especially the military activities have been the majorly the disaster relief operations and the humanitarian aid conducted in homeland categorically[4]. The combatant commands have also undertaken a theatre security corporation ever since, and it is still in progress. Another critical involvement the US military was involved in is the strategic and continuous deterrence missions on its nuclear strengths and capabilities. In addition to that, there is also an Intelligence Reconnaissance Surveillance missions that whose primary purpose is a critical phenomenon to the military and national leadership. (The main agenda of the USA participation in such operations is to bring stability in such areas that are hard hit with Islamic extremists). Although the tasks may seem to be entirely out of the realm of the specific contingency operations, they are a core element of the USA and the global security at large.

Missions and Regions

If we were to go by the history of the USA military operations and theatres to predict and judge the future, then there is a ninety-five percent chance that the next theatre or military action will be either in the Balkans or the Middle East. The prediction is much solidified by a significant current crisis in Iraq and Syria. As much as the US military is seeking to offer help to the residents of the middle east should draw a clear line between the most dangerous mission and the ones that most likely to be contained with time. There are so many reasons that ground the fact that the Middle East remains to be the hot battleground for the next theatre of the US military in the sense that the players are many and nation have chipped in either to back the government of the rebel groups as it is evident with the case of Syria[5]. The situation forces the US military participation to be extraordinarily paramount and cri(Crossed crocodiles-World Press.com)

AFRICOM-NEO (Non-Combatant Evacuation) has over history remained to be a critical concern and issue in areas where the governments are historically weak and unstable. The operations have occurred majorly in the unstable states of the coastal regions of West Africa[6].(The forces does not limit themselves to only building the partnership goals and strengthening of relationships but also occupies the airfields and the ports in helping moving the citizens off the continent). The crisis realized between the states in question and the rebel groups have received a significant boot and help from the NEO operating in those particular regions.

 (CENTCOM)

CENTCOM- the Middle East is with no doubt the most likely location that will experience one of the major US military theatres in history. Some of the CENTCOM are operations since the year 1980 includes the Lebanon Peacekeeping, Iraq freedom. (Associated with the ever-persistent obligations such as the Southern and Northern watch) and Tanker Wars and the specific observer missions in Sinai. Another paramount issue is the counter-terrorism mission in the Middle East that is so critical not only to the Middle East residence and the USA but also the whole world at large. Such regions have placed the Middle East on the map of being the most likely location of the significant USA military theatre in the line of history. The area has for many years remained a center of conflict for many first world countries with improved security facilities and operations.

PACOM- the pacific area can be related to the AFRICOM situation, but it majorly bases its operations on the humanitarian aid and assistance[7]. The pacific nations such as the Philippines and Indonesia require more of relief food and humanitarian aid in most parts of their rural areas. (The USAID to the people of the pacific region have greatly benefitted from the initiative especially on the health, agriculture and food and the environmental sectors of the economy).

Conclusion

The situations explained in the text draw I great line among the needs and the requirements of different areas. The USA military has an obligation of treating every condition with the importance it deserves, and if at any point we were to rank them then the Middle East region requires more attention than any other regions. The situation in the area calls for the intervention of the US military and in so doing it will lead to the mounting of a massive military theatre in the region. The situation solidifies the prediction of the Middle East is the next location of the USA military theatre.
