Mein Kampf is Hitler's novel, in which he outlines his political agenda in detail. Mein Kampf was considered the Bible of National Socialism in Nazi Germany and achieved popularity well before its publication, and many Germans assumed that the Nazi leader was capable of bringing all of the ideas laid out on the pages of his book to reality. The first part of Mein Kampf was written while Hitler was imprisoned at Landsberg for a coup attempt (Orwell, 1940). Many of his associates, including Goebbels, Gottfried Feder, and Alfred Rosenberg, had already published pamphlets or books, and Hitler desperately wanted to prove that despite lack of education, he was also able to contribute to political philosophy. Thesis: the book contains Hitler’s ideas of race and land acquisition, which are considered part of his ideology of German domination in the world. Ideas of German Domination The main theme of the book was Hitler's racial doctrine (Chapter XI The nation and race). The Germans, he wrote, must recognize the superiority of the Aryan race and maintain racial purity. Their duty is to increase the strength of the nation, in order to fulfill its destiny, which presupposes the achievement of the world domination. Despite the defeat of Germany in the World War I, Germans must re-gain strength (Orwell, 1940). This is the only way, in which German nation could take leading positions and become the leader of the mankind: "...it [Nazi philosophy] by no means believes in an equality of races, but along with their difference it recognizes their higher or lesser value and feels itself obligated to promote the victory of the better and stronger, and demand the subordination of the inferior and weaker in accordance with the eternal will that dominates this universe" (Hitler et al, 2011)Race, according to Hitler, was the only way to join all people of the superior identity and unite them in the leading state, the basis of which was purity of the race and its domination in the world. Acquisition of lands was considered a significant part of Hitler’s plans, as the superior race would have required territories for expansion. Race, as Hitler supposed, was to form a state, consisting of superior people, who would dominate other representatives of the world and, finally, surpass them. The first duty of the state, consisting of the representatives of superior race, was to preserve and maintain its racial basis. The fundamental concept is that the Government had no boundaries, but implied them. This is the prerequisite for the development of higher Kultur (Orwell, 1940). The reason lies in the existence of a race capable to improve their Kultur. Hitler formulated the seven points, which are duties of state: the concept of "race" must be put in the spotlight; it was necessary to maintain racial purity; as a matter of priority, it was required to introduce the practice of modern birth control; necessity to promote sports among young people; requirement to have obligatory military service and higher education; special attention should be paid to the study of the racial issue in schools; the necessity to awaken patriotism and national pride among the citizens and finally, sick or weak people should be prohibited having children; the German nation must be prepared for the future leadership: “(The state) must see to it that only the healthy beget children; that there is only one disgrace: despite one’s own sickness and deficiencies, to bring children into the world; and one highest honor: to renounce doing so. And conversely it must be considered reprehensible to withhold healthy children from the nation” (Hitler et al, 2011). Racial nationalismHitler has always preached the ideology of racial nationalism. He was following the supporting the ideas of Houston Chamberlain, and wrote that the Aryans is the race of "chosen people", about whom the Jews told. In addition, Hitler was sure that this race supported existence of man on the planet. Everything that people admire on the Earth, whether advances in science or technology, was a creation of a few Nations and, most likely, a single race. All the achievements of the German Kultur were the merit of this nation. According to his opinion, the only race that deserved existence was the Aryans. Hitler wrote: "History clearly shows that mixing of Aryan blood with the blood of inferior races led to the degradation of Kultur” (Hitler et al, 2011).Acquisition of lands According to Hitler, new state, consisting of pure people of Aryan race, had to live in the lands, which would set their own laws and orders. In order to form the state, lands were required and their acquisition was considered an inevitable part of the beginning of domination of German race. Acquisition of lands by means of violence was part of the agenda. Hitler paid no attention to the amount of victims and loses that such acquisition could have led to. It was necessary and any loses, whether it was people or finances, have been justified. ConclusionIn Mein Kampf, Hitler outlined his basic ideas of race identity, purity of German race and necessarily of acquisition of lands, which must be inhabited by the representatives of superior race. The views of Hitler were clearly nationalistic, socialist and anti-democratic. In addition, he preached fervent anti-Semitism, Catholicism and criticized Marxism.ReferencesHitler, A., Murphy, J. and Carruthers, B. (2011).
