Maternal Child Health and HIV/AIDS in the Developing Countries

The authors of this article have extensively reviewed it using the past research studies concerning the social determinants of health and disease as well as the disparities in the burden of communicable and non-communicable diseases affective various age groups including infants, adults, women and children in the developing countries. The review process has been well established, especially due to the fact that the authors have first established the global perspective on maternal child health and HIV and AIDS, to regional and national perspectives (Azuine " Singh, 2012). In the global perspective, the authors have managed to enlighten the readers concerning the cross national variations in health and social inequalities. In addition, the global review of health have helps in giving extensive insights concerning the broader societal level factors such as healthcare infrastructure, gender inequality and gross national product which are fundamental determinants of health inequalities between nations.

In the regional perspective, the authors have given insights concerning the region with the highest burden of child mortality. Precisely, the South East Asia region has the highest neonatal mortality rates, highest deaths of infants during the first 28 days of life, and highest mortality rates of children under five years old (Azuine " Singh, 2012). In the national perspective, the authors have revealed that Tanzania has the highest child mortality rates in Africa; while in Asia, china and India have the highest infant mortality rates. In this journal article, the authors have decided that it is necessary to offer policy suggestions in order to address the issue of maternal child health and AIDS. Apparently, the length of time that the review may take has not been reported.

The impact factor in this journal article is that the maternal child health is poor among the developing countries. The HIV pandemic and the accessibility of antiretroviral therapy has been the major challenge to average or good maternal child health in these countries. Children who are born with the HIV and AIDS do not only fail to access the ART, but also face stigma, discrimination, and rejection in the society, making them to succumb to the severity of the virus faster than when these issues have been addressed. This means that there is need to extensively address MCH and HIV/AIDS both regionally and globally (Azuine " Singh, 2012). In addition, this factor means that there is need to address the issue of ensuring accessibility of ART to both parents and children living with the disease, enhancing ART on one group jeopardizes the other, especially due to the fact it have been revealed that parents or guardian had the tendency of taking ART medications to take care of themselves first. In addition, discrimination, rejection, and stigma among the children living with HIV/AIDS needs to be addressed.

I support the resources used in the literature review of this article, since the references are peer-reviewed as well. The findings of the references are reliable since they have been obtained through experimental studies. In addition, some of the references are from global institutions that deal with health statistics and therefore, they are reliable. A good example is the world health organization (WHO).
