As attributed by the authors, media is known for framing femicide stories within domestic violence context. Focusing on the victims' behavior is one of the media frames employed in domestic violence (Gillespie et al., 2013). It incorporates excusing of the perpetrator and to some extent blaming the victim. Focusing on the behavior of the victim frames looks into the manner in which the victim carried herself before the incident or seeks to get away to blame the victim for the incident.
The media may also frame an incident as a normal event. As attributed by Meyers, the domestic event is considered as a normal event in many societies to the extent that even when it leads to death, it still considered a normal event that doesn’t meet the attention of the media (Gillespie et al., 2013). In most cases, this affects the black and the lower class in the society. The third framing is the isolation that the incident was an isolated event (Gillespie et al., 2013). Being only a single event, it can be attributed to bad lack owing that its occurrence is not common. It fails to treat the homicide of the intimate partner as the culmination of an abuse.
The media may frame femicide stories through indication of the perpetrator or the victim to be uniquely different (Gillespie et al., 2013). The parties in this scenario may be considered to be from a specific ethnical background or social class. In this context, the violence is considered to be experienced by only a certain marginalized group in the society. Finally, in the framing of the deadly domestic violence, the media may attribute that the perpetrators of domestic violence can be easily identified (Gillespie et al., 2013). This is an insinuation that they can be easily be noticed and singled out in a group of people.
