The first type of movement witnessed in America is the revolutionary movement which works on the basis of demanding swift, radical, overhaul changes in the society(Durkin, 2015). In this bracket, we can identify the black lives movement. The shootings were considered unjustified and targeted which called for collective behavior where black people came together to demand equality and change in the treatment of people of color.
The other social movement witnessed in America recently is the reformative social movement (Durkin, 2015) which can be associated with the LGBTQ movements. There have been calls for targeted reforms in the American system by LGBTQ movements where they seek recognition and equal opportunity similar to that accorded to other groups in the society, especially through legislation.
America has witnessed in the last decade reactionary movements by groups that seek to maintain the modus operandi which government regimes seek to change (Durkin, 2015). An example is the Feminist Pro-Choice movement. The Feminist pro-choice movement seeks to use the element of social collective behavior to ensure the matter of abortion is not changed by the current leaders to secure the right of women to have abortions.
Hypothesis Based on Current Social Movements and Future Expectations
The understanding of the current social movements facilitates the creation of the following hypothesis:
With the inclusion of new dynamics in the society regarding social behavior and equality in justice, will the society be in a position to come up with permanent solutions to counter discrimination against people of color and other marginalized groups?
Will the argument brought through the debate by pro-choice and feminism groups come into an amicable understanding on who is the real victim in abortions, the mother or the fetus hence should the law be amended or maintain its current standing on abortion?
