Banning Fast Foods in America

Fast foods have increasingly promoted the development of numerous health problems among Americans and across the globe. Scientific research has shown that fast food companies such as the McDonalds and KFC have most of their foods containing high levels of sugar, saturated fat, salt and cholesterol that negatively affect the health of their customers (Kaushik, Narang, " Parakh, 2011). Also, most of the products are from genetically modified animals and crops, which are unhealthy for human consumption. This work focuses on supporting the banning of fast foods in America.


One of the significant reasons for supporting the banning of fast foods in stores is due to the adverse health effects it has on consumers. Some of the health problems associated with the consumption of the food include reduced brain performance, an increased risk of type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. Further, the consumption of fast foods has been associated with obesity, and current research shows that more than 160 million Americans are obese (Schlosser, 2012). The challenge has become even more severe especially because fast foods have increasingly become popular among populations (Kaushik, Narang, " Parakh, 2011). The change in lifestyle, especially among the young populations has promoted the existence of the challenges associated with the consumption of fast foods. This population is usually in pursuit of cheap and easy foods, which when assessed in an in-depth manner are more expensive than we think. Finally, the consumption of fast foods may lead to the development of addiction that further accelerates the development of health problems. It is the high time that the government puts an end to the poisoning of its citizens.


In conclusion, the fast foods being sold in stores across America should no longer be considered as foods since they provide little nutritional benefits to our bodies. It is essential that the government realizes the menace present in the society and develops measures to stop the selling of fast foods. Banning the products will reduce health problems among individuals.
