            Mindfulness is defined as the aspect of sustaining a nonjudgmental state of total awareness of one’s emotions, experiences or thoughts momentarily (Merriam-Webster, 2018).             Mindfulness training has been proven to be twice as effective as standard therapy in helping people to quit smoking (TEDMED, 2015, 7:29). This indicates that one can tap into their natural capacity to be curiously aware of what is taking place around them. Nonetheless, Brewer maintains that tapping into context-dependent memory allows one to notice a certain urge, to get curious about certain action and at that point, one can embrace the joy of letting go (TEDMED, 2015, 8.32). In general, the speaker talks about the process of developing a habit and the profound tactic that one can refer to in the event of an undying urge to indulge. On the other hand, the video clarifies the fact that learning is an internal process and that people can regulate their own behavior (Ormrod, 2016). Also, social and cognitive mechanisms such as observation and preservation of observations in one’s memory, self-appraisal and self-evaluation promote learning.
