About Small Business Management

I've always wanted to start my own business, and I mostly envision doing it in the technology sector. If I had the means and the opportunity, I would make a game app for smartphone users. The software would allow users to download a collection of different games all at once. It seems that it will provide enjoyment for individuals who enjoy playing games on their mobile devices. I'm motivated to start a business like this because I love technology. In addition, a lot of individuals have embraced technology, which makes it a profitable industry. Currently, most online games' providers offer single games for download unlike my approach of having so many games for a single download (Dentchev, et al., 2015). Therefore, my app will appeal to the consumers of such more that most of the apps that only contain one game.
Part 2: Benefits and Pitfalls of Entrepreneurship
Benefits Drawbacks
One gets a lot of freedom to operate the business according to how they desire. For instance, the entrepreneurs do not have a boss that would create a schedule for them to follow. An entrepreneur has to deal with all the challenges such as shortage of resources without referring to any boss.
An entrepreneur enjoys the fact that their earnings increases with the increase in sales (Zimmerman & Chu, 2013). Otherwise, it is not possible to obtain and instant rise in salary for those who are employed. One might be forced to work for long hours especially at the start when there are only a few of employees.
An entrepreneur also gets the opportunity to make overall decisions which are often in line with their desires. An entrepreneur might easily make wrong decisions, particularly in the beginning before they incorporate any professionals in the business (Zimmerman & Chu, 2013). For example, they will not have those who they can consult from within the organization.
One gets the chance to venture into the business and profession that they desire (Zimmerman & Chu, 2013). The same is not obvious when one is employed because the owner of the company usually decides on the roles of the workers. Lack of sufficient experience is another drawback that might hinder the success of business given that the entrepreneur might not anticipate the seasonal risks associated with the firm.
An entrepreneur also gets to learn a lot concerning management and how to build a small business to a large world class company. The starting businesses also face the challenge of having to compete with the already established companies (Zimmerman & Chu, 2013). As a result, it might take long before such small ventures can acquire a sustainable number of customers.

Despite the common pitfalls that face entrepreneurs, I would possibly avoid them by employing various strategies. For example, it is easy to fail if one makes wrong decisions. For my case, I would strive to make the best decisions by consulting with other people and not necessarily depending on my thoughts alone. Concerning the possibility of running out of resources, I would only invest within the scope that the available resources can accommodate at any given time. Additionally, I would study the market in advance to enable me to know the seasonal changes and to make any necessary adjustments towards the same (Zimmerman & Chu, 2013). Lastly, I would do thorough marketing, especially on social media given that it is relatively cheap to help create awareness for my product and compete effectively in the market.
Part 3: Ethical Considerations and Social Responsibility
Ethical Considerations
My business will employ ethics in production, marketing and in dealing with the clients. I will ensure that the app is of high quality and that it meets the specifications that the consumers expect from the information they get from marketing. Additionally, marketing will only target the promotion of the app and not to discredit other competing brands in the market (Dentchev, et al., 2015). Lastly, the business will employ honesty, equity, and integrity when handling the clients. For an instant, the consumers will enjoy equal treatment and download the apps at the regulated rates of payment without any hidden charges.
Social Responsibilities
At the start when the business is still small, I will donate part of the profits to the humanitarian welfare support organizations such as Red Cross. After a substantial growth, I will be organizing for annual environmental cleanup activities at any accessible site that require the same (Dentchev, et al., 2015). I would also create an online social page where the business can offer civic education on technology and the risks associated when using the various technological devices.
Part 4: Summary
The technology industry often witnesses numerous innovations and creations that have seen tremendous improvement in the sector. For instance, the mobile industry has evolved from the use of non-internet enabled phones to the ones that can use the internet as well as function like computers. Therefore, innovation will be critical to my survival and success in business. Otherwise, I might not operate for a long time before going out of the market if I do not improve on my products. Therefore, I will continually conduct research work to ensure that I learn of the consumers' changes in preference so as to make sure that I offer whatever they need (Dentchev, et al., 2015). Moreover, I will improve my app to enable it to become compatible with the new technologies such as the mobile device.
