Wireless Networking Components

Wireless networking components are used to create new networks or to replace existing devices. An access point is a device to which other devices connect on a network. To complete the connection, further devices such as hubs, switches, routers, and cards are useful, each of which has a specific function (IEEE, 2017). These gadgets allow PCs and office machines to connect to the internet or a network. The majority of connections are made through Ethernet or a wireless device. Wireless-enabled computers include built-in adapters that identify and connect to the internet automatically.

Wireless Networking Measurements

Wireless networking measurements determine wireless performance. The performance of wireless networks and devices is mostly determined by their strength. Some measures include channel capacity, bandwidth, signal power, and modulation (IEEE, 2017. These tests end in mathematical calculations to determine the network strength. The calculations vary in different ways, depending on value to determine, the device used, and the distance between devices among others, as IEEE (2017) indicates. An example is channel capacity, calculated from the formula below.

Noise Floor and Signal Noise Ratio

The noise floor is the measure of any unwanted signals in a network. These come from the many sources that people have from their devices. The signal noise ratio is the difference between the noise floor and the signal trapped by a device. An example is a client receiving data at 10Mbps, and the noise measured is 12Mbps, the ratio is the difference, 2Mbps. The two ratios vary depending on the devices used and the work he or she does. The importance of these two measurements is to determine the quality of use of a network. Information from such a test assists one to know any improvements that their devices may need.

Understanding Wireless Technology Concepts

Understanding the concepts of wireless technology equips an individual with the knowledge of how different connections work within their systems. The first importance of understanding the components is for companies to make the best choices when installing or setting up networks (Coleman & Westcott, 299). Problems arise every time during a network, which most people should understand. Understanding the issues gives an upper hand of easy diagnoses when problems arise. Without understanding the different components, individuals and network operators cannot solve networking issues.

Radio Frequency and Antenna Concepts

When networking, experts must have a clue of the devices they use. Radio frequency and antenna concepts work in line with different antennas. For a working setup, the antenna, line of service, and the radio frequency must match. A perfect match between the three concepts ensures the devices receive the data and can transmit it to the right receiver (Coleman & Westcott 297). In the case of a mismatch, networks fail. The most important concepts are the radio frequency and the line of service. These two have a predefined concept, designed for different devices. Changing them is a complex undertaking. The antenna is easy to find for compatible networks as Coleman and Westcott (307) posit. A networker must not be worried about the antenna because he can find the best ones and configure to match the available components. The components and terminologies here, among others, are easy to understand or the development of a proper network.
