WEATHER RESEARCH FOR THE PERIOD 13TH NOV TO 22ND NOV

Light Showers in the Middle States

Light showers were observed in the middle states from the beginning of the observation period until November 20th. As the storm pushed out into the Atlantic, Maine received a lot of rain. Due to the chilly weather brought on by the rains, the mid-west endured very low temperatures. Several lows came up from the south along the southern Pacific Coast, resulting in beautiful weather for the duration of the observation period (Achour 30).

Santa Monica, California

Due to its strategic position adjacent to the Pacific, this area received fair weather during the observation period, as predicted. Except for light rain on the fifth day, the area had mostly clear skies. The daily weather was entirely fair during the whole period with daily temperatures averaging at a high of 50.9 F and lows of 42.9 F. The cold front depicted on the NOAA weather maps explains the cooler temperatures that occurred at the end of November.

Las Vegas, Nevada

Las Vegas saw clear weather during the whole observation period. This was also accompanied by entirely moderate temperatures averaging at highs of 50.3 F to lows of 36.4 F degrees. This explains the colder weather observed towards the end of the period. The wind speed was also fair, averaging at around 7.4 km/h except for a few quite calm days.

Denver

This area also received good weather with the average temperatures at around 38 F. The area also had low humidity at about 40%, and therefore visibility was excellent. Most of the city was cloudy during the Observation period (Achour 113).

Wichita

Wichita received a somewhat sunny and fair climate with a few scattered clouds and a slight drizzle on the third day. The temperatures were also quite low with averages at highs of 44.8 F and lows of 32.7 F. Winds were also quite high with a top of 42.7 km/h on the fifth day of observation.

Portland, Maine

As expected, due to its location, Portland received fairer weather with clear skies and a few scattered clouds over the observation period except the occurrence of light rain on the 6th day. The temperatures were also good, averaging at around 34 F. The wind was quite fast with an average of approximately 11.5 km/h (Achour 46).
