Trump regulations impact on the US economy

The purpose of this research proposal is to launch an investigation to ascertain how Trump regulations would affect the US economy. Three research questions that are in line with the study's goal are created for the study's purposes. Data will be gathered using a survey method that will be used using individually delivered questionnaires. The generated data will be examined using frequency counts like the mean and mode. Despite the government of the United States' efforts to promote and boost its economic growth levels, this study will be conducted. This research is therefore set to investigate the effects that come about from the regulations on the economy made by Trump. For the success of small scale businesses and other sectors of the economy it has been speculated that through the regulations put up by Trump there might be a tax cut down which is to benefit mostly the rich and in a way tending to limit the boost of demand, the regulations have also been put in a way to increase inflation rates and the faster growth of output. The target population of the study will majorly be the US citizens specifically those coming from Aldwysch Westminster London. This study will therefore be of much significance to both the citizens and investors in Aldwysch Westminster London and America at large to appreciate the importance of knowing and analyzing the impacts of Trump regulations on the US economy for the next five years.

CHAPTER ONE
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
There are so many things that play a major role in the economic growth and sustainable development of every nation. Due to this, The Government of United States has supported the Micro and Small enterprises. The Government has been doing this to ensure economic growth and sustainable development. The enterprises have however been facing numerous problems including lack of efficient access to finances from the banks and other lending institutions and collapsing of the SSBs due to mismanagement (MESPT, 2011). The problem that might require emphasis in research would be the impacts of regulations of Americas president Donald Trump on the economy. The study is to seek information concerning the major effects that can be brought about by the US president regulations on the economy in half a decade.

THE PROBLEM STATEMENT.
Basing our major facts on US president's campaign policy proposals, if enacted in full they would most likely provide a short-term boost to US economic growth but result in lower growth over the long-term. The combination of lower taxes, reduced regulatory burdens, and fiscal stimulus should, if enacted, increase US economic growth in the short-term(2017-2019). Longer term, Trump's proposals are likely to be a drag on growth due to increasing government deficits and debt load, decreased immigration, and the potential impact of retaliatory tariff. Due to all this not yet ascertained effects on the economy, it has proved relevant for the filling of the economical gap of the Trump regulations on the US economy during his ruling term. This project therefore, is an effort to do an in-depth study and analysis of various known and unknown impacts of Donald Trump economic regulations in America.
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

The objectives of this study are:
To determine the impacts of Trump regulations on investment in US economy.
To investigate the repercussion that may rise under reduction of taxation due to new regulations governing the economy.
To determine whether Trump economic regulations will lead to an increase in spending on defense and infrastructure.
To determine the general effects of Trump regulation on the US economy for a period of five years.

RESEARCH QUESTIONS
What are the impacts of Trump regulations on investment in US?
What are the effects may arise from the reduction or cut down of taxes in the US economy?
Is there an increase in spending on defense and infrastructure in Americas economy due to Trump regulations?
What are the major impacts of Trump regulations on America's economy in the next five years?

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
The significance of this study is to draw awareness on the importance of knowing the major impacts of Trump regulation on US economy.
The study seeks to fill the existing gap in knowledge, advance the field of study and act as a stepping stone for future researchers who would like to conduct studies on impacts of Donald Trump regulations on America's economy.
THE SCOPE OF THE STUDY
The study will be carried out in Aldwych Westminster London. The scope of this study will look at the general impacts of Trump regulations on US economy in the next five years and how it affects the citizens, non-citizens and investors.
THE LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY.
This research proposal is subject to several limitations;
This study will focus on citizens living in Aldwych Westminster London only, therefore the findings may not translate to all citizens in other towns.
The secondary sources of data used in this project proposal are written by people and therefore are subject to error, omission and bias.
Non-respondent from some of the people contacted may be also a limitation that is expected to arise when collecting the data.

CHAPTER TWO: LITETATURE REVIEW
THEORITICAL REVIEW
This section presents some of the impacts which may arise due to trump regulation on the United States economy in the next 5 years. These impacts are seen in the form of regulatory reforms, trade and immigration policy and monetary policy.Pacioli.L. (1494)

Regulatory Reform
Regulatory reform is seen as one of the President Trumps focus in the country. During his campaign trail Trump bemoaned the suffocating effect that he believed many recently imposed government regulations have had on the economy and thus he promised to loosen the reins if elected. The president is likely to focus on a few key regulations which he mentioned time and again during his campaign trail. His administration is likely to reduce government restrictions across the board as well.
The president frequently mentioned that any regulatory agency that wishes to impose a new regulation will have to remove two existing ones in order to do so. Many people prefer that these regulations be analyzed in the context of the costs they impose and the benefits they
Provide.
President Trump made it clear that he plans to get Government out of the way of business. The business community appears to be highly receptive to the Potential for regulatory relief, as small business optimism has soared since Trump's victory. Many of the targeted regulations were the result of Obama executive orders, and can quickly be reversed by Trump (a prime example is the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program). Others will be subject to the time consuming federal rule making process, though many recently introduced regulations can be overturned via the Congressional Review Act, which only requires a simple majority in both the House and Senate.
People expect Trump administration to substantively roll back the bureaucratic regulatory state that many believe has burgeoned under the Obama administration. This should be highly beneficial to small and medium sized businesses, since they are far less able to absorb the costs imposed by many of these regulations than large multinational companies. Overall, a significant reduction in regulatory costs is expected to be positive for economic growth.

Trade and Immigration Policy
President Trump administration is significantly seen to affect the economy in terms of trade and immigration policy. President Trump made two things abundantly clear during his campaign that he will bring jobs back from overseas and that he was going to build a wall on the border with Mexico - and make Mexico pay for it. And while Trump's intervention to keep some jobs at a Carrier plant in Indiana that were slated to move to Mexico made for good press, people don't expect the President of the United States to personally intervene every time a company shifts production overseas. President Trump's trade proposals stand in stark contrast to 60-plus years of establishment economic consensus, but Trump rode a wave of populist economic anxiety into office and his supporters expect him to deliver on his campaign rhetoric. While Republicans will control the White House and both houses of Congress, Trump is expected to face staunch opposition from fellow Republicans to his trade proposals, given that they fly in the face of decades of Republican orthodoxy. Trump called for an immediate withdrawal from the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP), a renegotiation or withdrawal from NAFTA, designating China as a currency manipulator, the imposition of stiff tariffs on imports from China and Mexico, and also called for the possible withdrawal from the World Trade Organization. All of these proposals would likely negatively impact US economic growth.

US withdrawal from the TPP would be a win for China above all
else. Though they were not included in the agreement, US departure from an important regional trade pact provides an opportunity for China to step in and play the key role in establishing a regional economic trade zone, which they are likely to do in US absence. China has increasingly been taking a larger economic role in the region, and US withdrawal would provide an ample opportunity for the Chinese to increase their economic power both regionally and globally. A withdrawal or renegotiation of NAFTA would result in decreased trade with US second and third largest trading partners and there two largest markets for exports. Leaving the WTO would deprive us of the major international organization through which they are able to arbitrate trade disputes and would represent a substantial blow to
the global international economic order.

Monetary Policy
American's showed no reason to believe that the independence of the Federal Reserve is in jeopardy and they expect the Fed to remain fully in control of monetary policy under the Trump administration. President Trump has a little direct control over monetary policy; he has the power to appoint members to the Federal Reserve Board. President trump has at times praised the current Fed and low interest rate policies and at others railed against it. Based on Trump's campaign rhetoric, he appears to value economic growth above all else. Knowing his preference for policies that favor growth, he is unlikely to appoint an overly hawkish (in favor of tighter monetary policy) member to the board, cognizant that an aggressive tightening of interest rates would likely snuff out any economic rally his policies may spur.
Aside from his Federal Reserve appointees, Trump may only affect monetary policy tangentially through the economic impact of the policies his administration is able to implement. The Fed has to respond to the impact of his policy proposals on employment and inflation. The Yellen Fed indicated that it prefers to take a "wait and see" approach, and is unlikely to start aggressively normalizing interest rate policy until the details and impact of other policy proposals are known. (Kuiperskaai, Belgium.Duranti, L. and Thibodeau, K. (2001)).

In the past, the Fed had suggested that it may be willing to allow inflation to temporarily overshoot its 2% target, since that target is meant to be symmetric, with misses both above and below the target, and inflation has remained subdued for such an extended period of time. While President's Trump administration will differ substantially from the Obama administration, people expect the Fed will remain data dependent and apolitical.

CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK.

REGURATORY REFORMS

TRADE AND IMMIGRATION POLICY

MONETARY POLICY

IMPACT ON US ECONOMY

The conceptual frame work shows that the economy of United states is affected by factors such as regulatory reforms, trade and immigration policies and monetary policy which are imposed in the country. The impact of the US economy is the dependent variable as it depends on the regulatory reforms, trade and immigration reforms and monetary policy which are independent variables.
RESEARCH GAPS
The former researchers did their study based on the economy of US at large and thus their findings are less applicable in the study since it captures attention of Trump's reign as the president. This weakness created a gap for the researcher to study the impacts of Trump regulation in the economy in the next five years in the region.
SUMMARY OF LITERATURE REVIEW
Rise of the economy has been a great impact to the residents of that country and also to other countries who usually engage in trade activities with the country. The US economy is expected to experience great impacts due to Trumps regulations in the next five years. These impacts will be experienced in different sectors through certain regulations and reforms such as the regulatory reforms, the trade and immigration policy and the monetary policy imposed by the president.
Considering Regulatory reform, Trump On his campaign trail Trump bemoaned the suffocating effect he believed many recently imposed government regulations have had on the economy and promised to loosen the reins if elected. The president is likely to focus on few key regulations which he mentioned during his campaign trail, thus imposing the regulations will have a great impact to the economy.
Looking at the Trade and Immigration Policy, president Trump on his campaign made two things abundantly clear that he was going to bring jobs back from overseas and he was going to build a wall on the border with Mexico - and make Mexico pay for it. When these regulations are made, they will likely impact the economy of the US.
In the issue of monetary policy, President Trump is seen to have little direct control over monetary policy; he has the power to appoint members to the Federal Reserve Board. President trump will change or retain the current Fed and also the interest rate policies which will greatly impact the economy of the United States either positively or negatively.

ETHICAL CONSIDERATION
Regarding to ethical considerations the study will ensure informed consent among the participants. The study will also adhere to the ethical principal of confidentiality of information collected.

CHAPTER THREE
INTRODUCTION
In this chapter, the research method that will be used to collect, manage and analyze the data is presented. This chapter discusses the methodology of the study including the source of data, sample and sampling technique, data instrument, pilot testing of instrument, data distribution and collection as well as data management and analysis tool are described in this section.
To be able to accomplish the task at hand, there is the need to gather adequate and comprehensive data on the impacts of economic regulation laid down by US president Donald Trump on the US economy . This chapter seeks to explain the research instruments used in collecting data, the population of the research, sampling procedure, the type of data collected and the difficulties encountered during the survey.
RESEARCH DESIGN
The research project is designed to cover three quarters of the US citizens living in Aldwysh Westminster London. The survey method will be used in gathering information from respondents. Data will be collected using self -administered questionnaires. The choice of this method of data collection will be selected because questionnaires can reach a large group of respondents within a short time and with little cost, at the same time use of questionnaires will enable the respondents to remain anonymous and be honest in their responses (Kasomo, 2007).
As a prelude to the questionnaires, personal interviews and discussions will be conducted to prepare the minds of respondents and also to serve as a check on inconsistent and/or conflicting responses.

SAMPLE DESIGN
A sample design is made up of two elements.
Sampling method. Sampling method refers to the rules and procedures by which some elements of the population are included in the sample. Some common sampling methods are simple random sampling, stratified sampling, and cluster sampling.
Estimator. The estimation process for calculating sample statistics is called the estimator. Different sampling methods may use different estimators. For example, the formula for computing a mean score with a simple random sample is different from the formula for computing a mean score with a stratified sample. Similarly, the formula for the standard error may vary from one sampling method to the next.
For the purpose of this study the sampling method that will be used is simple random sampling. Out of the sampling frame each sampling unit will be assigned a special number then the numbers will be shuffled in a basin and the researcher blind folded will randomly pick the numbers.
Data collected for the study will be analyzed by the researchers using frequency counts such as mode and mean score.

POPULATION AND SAMPLE SIZE
According to Creswell (2013) ten percent of the population or more is appropriate representation for the population and for generalization of the research finding. Orodho (2001) defines a sample as part of large population, which is a representative of the larger population. A sample size of 51% forming more than 10% of the target population will be sampled. According to Kothari, (1990) systematic sampling involves selecting the first unit randomly but the remaining units of the sample are selected at fixed intervals .Fifty one percent of the citizens which makes more than 10% of the total population of citizens in Aldwych Westminster London will be randomly sampled and subject to the study.

SAMPLING PROCEDURE
Researchers have developed a number of techniques where only a small portion of the total population is sampled, and attempts to generalize the results and conclusion for the entire population is made.
The process of defining a representative subpopulation to study is called sampling. There are two main categories of sampling, probability and non probability. For the purpose of this study the non probability category was used.
Convenience sampling will be used. Subjects will be selected because of their convenient accessibility to the researcher. The subjects will chose simply because they will be the easiest to obtain for the study. This technique will be used because it is easy, fast and usually the least expensive and troublesome.
SOURCES OF DATA
The collection of data represents a pre-requisite for carrying out a research and can be derived from a number of sources. These sources are classified into secondary and primary data (Clarke and Dawson, 1999).
Neil (1985) pointed out that secondary data is material that has been gathered previously and primary data consists of new material collected by the researcher for the purpose at hand by the use of questionnaires, interview schedules, observation, participation etc.

TYPES OF DATA COLLECTED
The study will use both secondary and primary data. The primary data for the study will be the field survey which will be conducted by the researcher. A structured questionnaire will be used to gather data from the respondents. The questionnaire will have both close-ended questions and open ended questions. The full details of the questionnaire are presented in Appendix 1.
PILOT TESTING
A pilot study will be conducted to test the validity and reliability of the questionnaire. First, the expert views, suggestions will be taken into consideration in restructuring of all the statement that will be found to be ambiguous and irrelevant. Before the questionnaire will be used in the actual study, the researcher will use 10 questionnaires to pilot the study in Aldwych Westminster London. The test will be aimed at revealing problems in understanding the questions as well as other problems which have to be solved before sending the questionnaire out to respondents.
To minimize misinterpretations, the questions as well as the instructions have to be designed in a clear and precise way so that different persons would not interpret them differently. Predominantly fixed alternative question but also open-ended questions albeit to a minor extent will be used to gather the data.
DATA ANALYSIS AND PRESENTATION
Data collected for this research will be analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. Analyzed data will be presented using tables, charts and graphs simply because they are easily understood and they summarize and organize data well for dissemination.
