The internet has become an increasingly trustworthy tool for people all around the world, with open and almost unlimited access to the internet and its resources. The demand for internet and its improved services has been steadily increasing in recent years. Internet consumers like to have more options available to them over the internet rather than impediments and constraints that limit their internet experience. Net neutrality is the overarching idea that allows internet service providers to access all online resources.  applications and contents regardless of its sources without favour or discrimination against blocking particular internet products or websites. The research of this paper focuses on an organisation group that advocates against the control of net neutrality, how it communicates its agenda and its influence of the public opinion.

The focus group is a net neutrality activist group known as Battle for Net Neutrality ( https://www.battleforthenet.com/ ). The position of this group is to campaign against the control of net neutrality by individual companies and policies.Net neutrality is governed by a set of rules (Kimball, 2014). These rules are on the verge of being changed. The stand taken by Battle for Net Neutrality is to create awareness on implications of controlling net neutrality for future internet user experience by slowing down sites and internet start-up companies having to pay too much to avoid slow internet speeds. The main agenda is to mobilize protests against the control of net neutrality and encouraging the influence of state congress leaders to vote against control of the net neutrality.

The Battle for Net Neutrality group is able to communicate its position through its website, social media pages and video sharing pages like you tube. The group utilises the media criticism that exists on the video sharing plat form and an internet calling platform where the public is influenced to support its agenda. Social media websites like Facebook and Twitter are also being utilized particularly to reach the members of the congress and the general public in an attempt to educate and influence them on the agenda against control of net neutrality. The illusion of net neutrality has been that the use of the internet is not limited to any control whatsoever (Zelnick, 2013). The website itself incorporates all the other communication channels used to communicate its agenda while offering a platform for support registration by the public and gives an option for the public influencing sentiments to be communicated to the congress through letters. The URLs of two of the communications channels are provided as follows. The message circulated through the social media groups still emphasises on the agenda to mobilise the public and influence them to protest against the control of the net neutrality. The group advocate for the control of net neutrality through specific mainstream media. Politics play a very important role in net neutrality (Sprenger, 2015).Appearances by representatives of the net neutrality group includes a comedian John Oliver through a late-night show on the mainstream media. The use of such comedian celebrities draws the attention of the public through comic influence to communicate a message more effectively. The group has also made comments to the Federal Communications Commission which appeals to law makers to recognise the importance of net neutrality and the support to maintain of the policies governing net neutrality. The advertisements sponsored by the group include online business companies who advertise their support against control of net neutrality.

From the utilization of the video sharing platform to the website as a communication channel, it is notes that the arguments are weighed against the Federal Communications Commission allowing control and end of net neutrality. The communication platforms further argue that the implications of controlling net neutrality will cause very slow internet speeds to internet users and websites. The communication also argues that there will arise a challenge to start-up internet companies to be able to afford the cost implications that will be unaffordable when control of the net neutrality introduces charges to use the internet and control website speeds and access. The message being communicated is not tailored to a specific audience. The message cuts across the board for the public to take action against the control of net neutrality. The message is tailored for a specific communication channel. Nevertheless, the communication attempts to incorporate several other communication channels. The use of television shows is utilised more than other communication channels like the print newspaper. The reason behind the use of television shows is that it presents to and appeals to a larger audience compared to the use of newspaper print.

Conclusion

The determination towards supporting against the control of net neutrality is massive. The point of view and stand against the control of net neutrality bears a reasonable argument which the net neutrality organisation groups are communicating in an effective way. Although further improvements can be pursued for a more aggressive approach towards the approach of communications by the organisation group, it is never too late to aggressively involve print media. It is important to take a stand in the decisions that are made legislatively to ensure a better future.
