When it is already too late to salvage the infected tooth
A root canal is performed in order to preserve the dead tooth. There are a variety of factors that might harm a tooth's nerve, causing excruciating agony that can only be relieved by having a root canal performed. When there is a toothache, which indicates that the tooth is still living and not yet dead, the root canal is typically performed. One will always have unwaveringly high sensitivity to stimuli that are either hot or cold. In most cases, when a tooth is sensitive to heat and has no problem when exposed to cold stimuli, then it is evident that it requires the root canal management. In that case, its performance is to bring to an end the pain. Another reason for the execution of the root canal is when there is an abscess in the tooth which is a pus pocket that forms after the death of the pulp of the tooth around the root end. In the case of the abscess, the carrying out of the root canal is to remove the infection and prevent its spreading and affecting the bone that is around the tooth root (Horne, 2).
The Role of Insulin
Insulin is a hormone whose production is by the pancreas and plays major functions in the human body especially when it comes to the regulation of the levels of the blood glucose. The pancreas habitually generates extra insulin in rejoinder to the increase in the degree of blood sugar. In other words, insulin initiates the opening up of the body cells thus allowing the use of glucose as the source of energy. Moreover, in the case of excessive glucose in the bloodstream, the condition is also called hyperglycemia, then insulin promotes the liver, fat cells, and muscle storage of glucose as glycogen. The glycogen, later on, provides energy when there is higher demand in the body. As a result, there is the restoration of the normal levels of the blood glucose and reduction of insulin in the blood. Insulin also fuels the glycogen synthesis in the liver, but usually, a different passageway takes over in case there is saturation of glycogen in the liver (Smith, 2).
The Enzymes and Digestion
Enzymes are proteins whose principal function is to act as the bodily functions catalyst especially in the acceleration of the chemical reactions by plunging the quantity of energy essential for the processes performance. In the digestive system, enzymes break down into smaller particles the food that people eat that is the proteins, starches, and cellulose among other foodstuffs making it possible for the intestinal absorption of nutrients. In the mouth, there is the secretion of the enzymes that smash down starch to simple sugars. From the mouth, food goes to the stomach where there are the gastric enzymes which are of various types. There is the Gelatinase whose function is to break down meats and Gastric Amylase which acts on starch among others. There are also digestive enzymes in the pancreas that further breaks down substances into smaller ones than in the mouth and stomach thereby arranging the individual amino acids and also separates the fats. In other words, the enzymes make the food substance manageable for easier digestion and absorption (SMART LIVING, 3).
