The Nicerema's body ritual
Following a thorough examination of the case article, it is clear that the Nicerema people are a distinct group of people with long-standing religious and cultural practices. Essential features such as the human body and the health problems are of particular interest to this community. The Nicerema claim that the human body is unattractive and vulnerable to debility and illness, necessitating some body rituals.
Nicerema's approach to hygiene
There is a pressing need for me to express my perspective on this society right now. Following the dictates, Nicerema grossly detrimental to the man body, although this group of people has a clue about that need for hygiene, they have adopted a wrong approach. For example, it was reported that mouth ritual is done to ensure that the teeth do not fall out of place and the gums are not disfigured. However, the Nicerema people carry out all forms of torturous rituals which are unnecessary; a good modern oral care will be enough to handle such process hence no need for the painful rituals, (Miner, 1956).
The importance of studying Nicerema
There is need to note that there is a lot of importance that could be attached to the study of Nicerema. First, this group of people is unique in their belief; they have a social and well-organized community system, perhaps the most important reason for the study of Nicerema is based on the fact that the study proves the extent to which people can go just to adhere to their beliefs. The Nicerema people are of the opinion that the body is ugly and must be catered for. However, they don’t mind to undergo immense torture to get is done. Hence, their actions prove the importance of values norms, and beliefs to a society.
Importance of values norms and beliefs
The Nicerema like most communities and society in the world are guided by specific values norms and beliefs. However, this study provides an in-depth revelation the importance placed by the Nicerema people on their values norms and beliefs. The important aspect of the study is that it also portrays how such values are transferred from one generation to another hence resulting in continuity, (Bates & Khasawneh, 2005).
Focus on body perfection
The primary focuses of the Nicerema community a sincere desire to perfect the body. These individuals are of the opinion that the body is not perfect and hence there is a need for the adoption of several rituals to ensure the perfection of the body. This group of people carries out all forms of body rituals on body parts such as the mouth, the skins, and the breast. The most intriguing feature of the body ritual of the Nicerema people is their ability to make slim people fat and vice versa. Therefore, in conclusion, it is safe to say that the focus of the Nicerema people a drive for the perfection of the human body.
Disagreement with Nicerema's beliefs
There is need to point out that I do not agree with the belief of Nicerema, it is primitive and detrimental to people's health and proper function of the body. It could be true that the human body could be susceptible to health challenges, however, destroying vital components of the body is not a means of treating or preventing these health problems. Hence I recommend that the Nicerema should be provided with basic modern societal orientation.
